Icy mess.........

We had about 2" of snow on Monday and it turned to sleet and finally to rain by late afternoon.  Then it froze overnight.  My snowplow guy came yesterday morning and plowed the mess but there is always a coating that he can't clear away.  I went out for about 10 minutes every hour and chipped away at it.  I spread ice melter over about a 6' area each hour and then that was the next area I shoveled, and then spread more.  I have about half of the driveway clear and now it is going to get colder each day until Sat.  I don't know if I ever mentioned it but my driveway is 3 cars wide, that's why it takes so long to clear it.
Each time I came in I went back to the cutting table and cut the fabric in the photo.  The bottom row is regular quilting fabric and the top row is batiks.  They all work well together.  I have enough to make a 54" x 72" quilt now with only one piece of each fabric, a charm quilt if you are into historical information.  I cut 14.5 more yards of fabric.  So, in reality I have enough cut to make 6 quilts 54" x 72".

We definitely get your weather the next day. It was an icy mess here yesterday, school closings and no plowing until late in the day. I really don't like this weather. Your squares look beautiful!

well you are getting some exercise aren't you. Sorry you got ice. I don't mind the snow so much but don't want the ice. We might get some on Thursday.

Hello Wanda,

That sounds like a great way to move snow! Work for a while and then go inside to get warm, drink some coffee and work on a quilt. I hope your ice goes away soon.

Love your blues! Between shovelling and cutting fabric you are one busy lady! We are having the same weather. Today it is snowing, but the flakes are so small you can hardly see them. It should only amount to a couple of centimeters. I hope. I will definitely not be shovelling or cutting! I have two quilts to quilt and bind.

I can only imagine cutting yards and yards of fabric and taking breaks to chip away ice and snow from your drive way. Your poor aching arms.

Every flake of our snow was gone with 4-5 days of 50 degree temps. Last night it snowed and it looks like 1.5" out there. And I can say it is pretty at the moment.
Our area is always so dry we welcome the moisture.

What fun to be able to make a charm quilt of that size from stash!!
We had rain yesterday, then the temperatures dropped again and it's snowing now.
