On Christmas morning we got up to another Christmas card scene. We got about 3" of snow the day before and about an inch through the night. It warmed up just enough so I could get the driveway cleaned off again.
Since my party is today, I had the day to myself yesterday and got another quilt quilted. There are still 50 tops hanging on hangers so I didn't make a lot of headway this year.
This top is over 10 years old. I decided to meander it on my mid arm machine and then go back and do some ditch quilting on my regular machine. I am not interested in trying to ditch quilt on the mid arm. I decided to go ahead and trim it and maybe I'll bind it before I do the ditch quilting.
This photo was taken through a screen looking out at my burning bush with the berries and snow.
This is a branch of the redbud tree with all of the seed pods, brown against black and white. I have to admit that it looks pretty with all of the snow, but I'm not enjoying driving in it.
We got about an inch during the night. The kids will be delighted. That 10 year old top is a beauty. Go ahead and get the binding on it so you can call it done. If it were me, once the binding is on, I rarely go back and add more quilting!! Have a lovely day with your family.
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks like mine. I like the quilt. Wish I had a midarm. I didn't even sew yesterday, but not today have to get back in there. Have a great Family day today Wanda. Chris
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt - absolutely gorgeous. do the binding and then you can decide if it needs more but still use it! Love the snow too, of course easy for me to say in no-snow Sydney! Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeletenice looking top - I'm surprised you have so many to quilt seeing as you have the long arm and mid arm to sew with - you must be making too many tops :) (and you do them so well)

Beautiful pictures - of the snow and the quilt. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe got 3 inches of snow on Friday, and I got a little quilting done yesterday afternoon. I LOVE the snow (but not the driving in it ... fortunately, the roads are all clear).
that quilttop is awesome! You had that waiting for so many years?! It is so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! We have not had much snow this year. It didn't even snow in the past few days. I love your winter wonderland photos!
ReplyDeleteYour snow photos are just so cool.
ReplyDeleteIt was 44 deg celcius here today.
Can I swap? Just for a day would be lovely.
Another beautiful quilt Wanda.
Your pile of tops is not getting any smaller. LOL. Ah well there is always next year.
Hope you had an enjoyable day.
The new snow made everything clean again. Yesterday was a great day.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt top. Have a great celebration today.

I have the same problem with tops. I keep busy with customer quilts and never get mine done unless they are made for shop samples.
ReplyDeleteLove the snow photos. We have snow and ice here in the Atlanta area and have closed the quilt shop for the day so I plan to sew all day plus make some bread.
Another beautiful quilt Wanda.
ReplyDeleteYour pile of tops is not getting any smaller. LOL. Ah well there is always next year.
While I do love your quilts, I also love your snow pictures--must admit I don't like having to drive in the stuff either, but you've captures some beautiful scenes, Wanda!
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty - love the border fabric, too. We have about a foot of snow, and it is a freezing -20. Glad that dad supplied us with lots of firewood this autumn.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Merry Christmas, and look forwards to visiting your blog for more inspiration next year!
Talk about picture perfect! Your snow pics look so beautiful, we don't get alot of snow here in Bullengarook Australia. I love your quilt, my son has just asked me for a bright colorful quilt this has given me inspiration. Thankyou.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures of your Winter Wonderland, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like the quilt - is it a spiderweb? Do you think your color choices/fabric combinations have changed much in 10 years? I think I could detect a subtle difference (still pretty, but different).
I sneaked a peek at the floor beneath your mid-arm, that would make a pretty quilt design!
Linda
what a lot of lovely snow. great pics. so glad I don't have to shovel
ReplyDeleteOh yes, lovely snow, if you don't have to get out in it, or shovel it! We don't have one bit in western Nebraska!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that Kaleidoscope is luscious! I've made a half dozen, but am leaning towards making another one.
I love that quilt. And thanks for sharing the number of tops you have ready to be quilted, now I don't feel quite as bad. Have a wonderful New Year.

Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteHope you had a Merry Christmas!
I just love that little Christmas tree wall hanging! About 12 by 16 inches, huh? Yikes!
And how come you're getting the snow. It has missed us almost every time (the storms detour north or south). Oh, oh. Now maybe I've jinxed myself.
Happy sewing in the New Year!
Oh, Wanda, your Christmas card scenes are beautiful, but I am so glad I don't have to live in them. We are having a little cold snap here (28 last night and tonight) and that is quite enough cold for me. Isn't it grand, though, that you have such wonderful playgrounds right there in your house to keep yourself busy when it's too bad to go out! That quilt is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWanda I love your quilt photos and those 'winter wonderland' photos. the latter are just like the scenes on those Christmas cards! Here in the sunny subtropical region i live in, it's been raining for a week!
ReplyDeleteTHat quilt top is amazing, Wanda! Waht took you so long?! We have had lots of snow here in the UK...and SO cold! Even our local river has frozen over for the first time since 1947!
ReplyDeleteI love the shot of your house. The quilt is beautiful. Green is my favorite color. I haven't been in my sewing since before Christmas, but we are getting a storm right now and everyone is reading, so I'm taking some time.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Quilt. The colours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful scrapy fabrics in the quilt..... love it!
ReplyDeleteTell me, you really don't have 50 tops to quilt for yourself, do you?
