Tuesday night is my designated time for making Winding Ways blocks, mainly because there are 3 TV shows in a row that I watch. Last night however was all reruns and election news. I was tired too so I only got 4 blocks completed and 2 more half blocks made.
Today I have to take my Dad to the clinic for his monthly blood test. Home health care ended the first Mon. in Oct. and they had been doing the blood draw right there in his apartment. He is not very steady on his feet even with his walker but he doesn't want me to use the wheelchair for him. His birthday is this month and he will be 97. For his age he is doing pretty well, still living in independent living where his meals are provided.
I hope everything goes well with your dad - it must be difficult for both of you that ha heas to rely on you for help?!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look so amazing! And you are making it look so easy!!
Your progress with the blocks is great. Hopefully we can get back on board with the TV schedules now. Chris
ReplyDeleteLove the progress on the Winding Ways! A terrific idea to do them when there are consecutive shows, time flies, I bet? I am sure your dad is going to have a wonderfully happy birthday! So glad to hear that he is still doing well in the independent living.
ReplyDeleteI'm still amazed at how much you accomplish even when you're tired. Tired for me usually means curling up with some knitting.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that the home health care isn't doing it anymore. Is that part of cutbacks there? To reach 97 is quite something.
last night was a boring night for tv. But I am so glad that all those horrible negative ads will be off of the tv! I didn't get much sewing done either.

While there is seldom much that I watch on Television, I use NetFlix instant view as my choice when I need TV to watch while sewing.
ReplyDeleteA big plus is "NO ADVERTISING" to distract.
Dad is doing fantastic! Wanda - can I just tell you how fantastic your WW's are? Very inspiring. Yummy!!! :) Thank you for sharing what's happening on Tuesday Nights.
ReplyDeleteWanda, I love what you're doing with the winding ways quilt; I remember when you started the block you were concerned about using batiks because the fabric wasn't too stable(?), but they're beautiful! Happy birthday to your dad this month, 97 is a glorious age - and he still has his own teeth! *smile*

A few WW is better than none. Hopefully next Tuesday will bring better TV shows. Glad to hear that your Dad is still independent as much as possible. Hope all goes well today.
ReplyDeleteI think at 97 he deserves a golden coach to take him to get his blood drawn. Hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteLoving those WW blocks. Each time I see them I fall in love again.
Winding ways id coming along brilliantly. You derserve a medal for all the work you do which allows your dad to live independently - he couldn't do it without your help.
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for your papa !
ReplyDeleteThose winding ways blocks are so pretty !
I know what 'fun' ☹ it is to stitch those curves. And yes you do make it look so easy with your precise stitching. And I always just smile at your color combinations.
ReplyDeleteI see you are having some rain and cool temps today. I know you had to bundle up when you took your Dad for his visit to clinic... brrrr ~ to reach 97 years old this month and to be living as well as he is independently, is great.

Your selected colors for the WW blocks are luscious, and your precision is never a question. They're going to make an astounding quilt.
ReplyDeleteHopefully there will be no surprises with your Dad's blood work. Parents are so proud, aren't they? My Dad never wanted assistance, even when it would have made life easier for him. Bless their independent, proud souls.
It's so nice to hear of people like your father: independent and determined! This is no doubt part of the reason he is doing so well at age 97. Good for him!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the way you designate different days/evenings of the week for different projects.
ReplyDeleteI try to work on one project from start to finish, but lately I have been struggling with burnout. One project goes into the (ahem) boneyard "to rest" while I work on another one.
I am wondering if I should try to work on two or more projects at a time.
Happy Birthday to your dad, and kudos for your dedication in taking care of him. I know it isn't easy.
I do love that you assign different nights to each project. A great way to make progress on multiple projects. I do that with different tasks at hand, why not quilts?
ReplyDeleteYour dad is doing great! Wish him a happy birthday from all of us. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad and three cheers for his independence.... that is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous!
