This is what the trees looked like all day yesterday. The prediction is for one more day of high wind. There were gusts over 50 mph and even higher in some areas near us. We missed the tornado and heavy rain part though.
Tuesday is Winding Ways day and I got 6 more blocks sewn. I may have to take out the centers of 2 of them but for now they are just going up on the design wall.
Here are the 18 blocks that I have sewn so far. They are going faster now that I know what I am doing. I think I'll work on them 2 evenings a week and see if I can get them all sewn before the end of the year.
I have another batch of hand dyed fabric pieces that were cut for me too. That will be a separate quilt.
We had tornado warnings here in TN too. I thought for sure the power would go out with all the wind! I hurried to download a new book on my MP3 just in case! I love Winding Ways...I've made 2 and hope to make another soon. Your colors are great...as always!
Rough weather here too. WE got to go sit in the lower hallway and stairwell (where there is no A/C and it was 80F) for an hour 45 min yesterday. More fun stuff coming today it seems. I am glad I had the dying tree removed last weekend.
I love what you have done so far for the Winding Ways. Spending a couple of evenings a week on them seems like a good idea. I am still working on my large quilt, a small section per day. We were supposed to get heavy winds and rain last night, but it didn't amount to much.
we are lucky and are on the edge of this massive weather scene, we got fall weather though overnight and the temperatures are now what they should be this time of year. I love the Winding Ways pattern and have thought of making it for years and never have. Your colors are great that you are choosing. Your wind/tornado made national news this morning. So unusual to have such high winds this time of year in your area. It is usually in the late spring early summer we hear of such. Can't believe those leaves hung onto that branch for the photo. I bet you will have lots to rake after these windy days pass.

Wanda, I finally caught up with you! I found your blog and was so taken with the first posts, that I went all the way back to the beginning, July 4, 2007. Along the way I've LOVED your journal covers, quilts, crazy piecing, log cabins, plants, critters, and your "wanda-ful" use of fabrics. You get a fantastic amount of quilting done and I only have admiration for your efficient way of working. Do you have a little crew of pixies at your house? LOL Keep at it, we are all blessed to be in the same quilting world as you! I don't have a blog yet, but will get one soon. ps - had you thought about using your little bits as a border?
Fun post and beautiful Windy Ways blocks. Did you use the AccuQuilt die or manually cut? I love this design and have been thinking about getting the die for this design. Either way I love your fabrics and believe your Windy Ways quilt is going to be spectacular.
We had 70-90 mph winds here in NM on the east side of the Sandia Mtns. That's why we sent them on east. We didn't like 'em. Several Illinois friends have told me their winds were a bit slower, and they just sent them on to Indiana!
We are getting the rain and the wind today. A great day for staying in and getting things done. Your Winding Ways blocks look fantastic!

The blocks are really colorful. Amazing what a couple hours of sewing can accomplish. Chris

Windy days and winding ways, good combo. I don't see one block that needs to be redone. These are fabulous, I like the batiks for this project.
