Preparation day

I had to do some shopping for my dad in the morning and then spent the afternoon with the final clean up of the garage and setting up the tables.  My neighbors who have moved started bringing all of their things from the storage unit for their garage sale in my garage.  It was very hot and sticky yesterday and then severe storms came through around 5:30 p.m.  There were lots of tree limbs down and wind damage.  Some of the farmers' cornstalks were flattened.  We finished working on the set up of the sale by 9:30.  It had cooled off considerably after the storm and today is supposed to be a beautiful day.

  1. I hope everything is okay in your yard after the storms. The farmers have my sympathies. It is hard work to get the corn to that stage, then to lose it is very disheartening.

  2. My yard had water standing in it. The wind was horrible. Hopefully you sell everything today. The weather should be on your side. Chris

  3. Boy, there has been some harsh weather out your way lately. I hope that it does not continue through the summer.

  4. Looks like a well organized garage sale. Hope the weather co-operates for your neighbors sale in your garage.

We are off to Seattle for the weekend. National weather tells us that Seattle hit 77 degrees for the first time since last Sept. on Wed. The Pacific Northwest has been so cool and rainy this spring. Time to shut off the rain and turn on the sunshine.

  5. Wanda, I see some items that I need in that sale!!!! I have another friend who lives in Michigan and we have decided that we share all weather patterns, just one day apart. So, whatever she gets on Wednesday, I see on Thursday! And we are feeling that rotten humidity BIG TIME!!!

  8. The red chair in your garage looks almost like the red chair my MIL owned!

Good luck with the sale (and the weather - it has been floods or no rain for weeks here ... no happy medium)

  9. I hope the sale goes well and the weather stays nice for it. We had storms all around last night, but none right here. Guess the earthquake was enough. :-)

  11. Good luck with the garage sale. If I lived closer I would have to stop by and get a better look at the little white table.

  12. Good luck with your garage sale, always a lot of work preparing...but a delight to see things go away! Farmers always have my respect, a very dicey occupation with the weather this year! Heartbreak for many, I'm sure! Thank you for your lovely blog!

  13. I was thinking of you last night while watching the weather warnings that constantly interrupted the show. Glad that you didn't get anything worse!

If I could come, I would buy that red chair. It would make a great quilt rack!

  14. Well, it is just BEAUTIFUL here today, isn't it? *S* For the first time in a week, I have some energy to get things done.

I was just talking to my dad on Monday nite, and we were lamenting all the things that wind can do to crops. He used to grow oats when he was first farming, and that stuff just fell and tangled at a whiff of wind.

Corn should be knee high by the 4th of July - so that's not a good height for wind to hit it.

I hope everything in your garage gets sold. *S* Are they giving you a commission?

  16. Hi Wanda,
looks like a nice collection for a garage sale. Hope you did well today.
We got some nasty storms rolling through, too. And it seems like they hit late evening/early morning, so bye-bye sleep!

I like your simple but pretty brick quilt you showed your class.
