We have just had 2 days in the 80's which is unbelievable this early in the spring. I worked outside picking up branches for the free brush pick up next Monday. It was too windy to rake any leaves.
The only sewing I did was to get these blocks assembled into a baby quilt top. I'm going to put a border on it too.
I'm going to show you a few more of the Dutch Wax fabrics. Maybe I'll get inspired to cut some of them up by seeing them on the computer monitor.
They are printed on a high quality fabric with a fairly tight weave.
Today I said good-bye to the zig zag Kaffe charm quilt top. One of my readers purchased it and I mailed it to her today. It was a great journey making that top and now I'm ready to start on another.
What amazing fabrics! I would never be able to cut into them. Maybe they should just be framed and enjoyed as they are.
ReplyDeleteThose are all wonderful fabrics, especially the one with the pink green and blue design. I just love that one. Congrats on the sale of your Kaffe top. I am sure the new owner will just love it!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo on the sale of your ZigZag piece. What inspiration to create more.
ReplyDeleteFast sale! I hadn't realized you had finished quilting it already - I must have missed that.
ReplyDeleteGlad the nice weather got up there to you too. We had warm weather a lot lately but for 3 days in a row it was so windy outside that it was hard to get outside work done!

Those fabrics are amazing! I hope you do cut into them soon.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sale - it was beautiful and will be greatly loved.
ReplyDeleteI like the baby top - nice colors.
Beautiful fabrics. Are they really Dutch - as in 'made in Holland'? Or do they come from (formerly Dutch owned) Indonesia? I'm just curious because I have never seen this type of fabric before. The Bento Box baby top is lovely too! And congratulations on the sale of your zigzag.
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics are luscious!!! I am not surprised that you sold that beautiful zig zag quilt. Hope your weather holds out for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, the one with the blue flowers is my favorite. I can see why it would be hard to cut into those beautiful fabrics, but I am sure you would come up with something exquisite. Oh what fun!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, I can see why you haven't cut into them, they need a special project.
ReplyDeleteWanda, I have more wax prints as well as Asian blue fabrics for you. I also have a suggestion for how you might use them. Call me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics! And congratulations on the sale of your quilt. It's wonderful to know that it'll be with someone who appreciates it so much.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought Friday's Dutch Wax Fabrics were great ! Even more today. Truly unbelievable stash you have. Always a surprise to see more I do not think of is as a stash anymore. It is more like your personal store, full of one of a kind amazing fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased to learn Vicki won BEST OF SHOW ! What a great weekend to present her blog on the same day as the Show. And to be recognized for her talent. I enjoyed her blog so very much. Her talent like her Mom's is perfection. Loved it.
I am envious of the gal that purchased your zig-zag charm quilt top. It was a beauty.

ReplyDeleteBEST OF SHOW for Vicki ! ! ! I was so happy to learn she was rewarded for her talents. I loved her blog and will visit it often. Like her Mom she is a talented perfectionist !

This pattern:

is what comes closest to what you collected earlier. But it doesn't reach the beauty of the earlier patterns. They are trying hard to be modern!
From the above shown sample, clippings could be made which would make a nice quilt or parts of it. If I had a quilting group near, I'd order the lot and share it with five more quilters.
I'm sure you'll find a perfect way to showcase your Dutch Wax beauties. They're just mouth watering!
ReplyDeleteI'm always petrified to cut into some of my special fabrics until I have a rock-solid plan in mind, so they just sit. Call me Ms. Chicken.
I love your Dutch Wax fabrics; they are absolutely exquisite! I was surprised to read that they aren't made anymore. Do you know why?

Kristin, you have not enabled your email through Edit Profile so I have no way to email you.
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics are amazing. I would be tempted to use them in very large blocks so as to not lose much of the design. That very last fabric is just incredible! I kept staring at it and staring at it. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the dutch batiks. They are gorgeous. I particularly like the two color ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your daughter's work too. Obviously a love of color runs in the family (even if her color wash quilt was neutrals!).
And, I can't wait until the zig zag quilt arrives at MY house! :-) Thank you!
What beautiful fabrics. I like our baby quilt, too.
