I was suffering from stitch withdrawal so while moving things around in my basement I spied the piles of star blocks and pieces of green sashing from a couple months ago. I didn't have enough strips cut to do the top and bottom but at least I have this much sewn together.
Remember the Dutch Wax fabrics I showed a couple weeks ago? Yesterday morning I looked through my navy batiks and found four that will work well with this blue and white assortment.
In the afternoon I went outside and dug out some more lily of the valley that is crowding out some of my other plants. I transplanted a coral bell that was hidden in an area with taller plants. I also pulled thistles so I feel like I have gotten started on my spring gardening. I didn't want to rush it and irritate the hip that had been hurting.
I found the CD for my Canon camera. I knew the last time I used it was when I loaded both cameras' software into my old laptop when I was going to have overnight company and would not be able to use my desktop which is in the guest bedroom. It was right with the disk for the Olympus and I had just overlooked it. Meanwhile I cleaned out a lot of unnecessary stuff in the computer desk while looking for it so that is a good thing.
I love greens and purples together. The star blocks look great. Re: disk...I find sometimes I'm so organized that what I'm looking for is in the most logical place. However, what was logical one day may not seem so logical the next day!! Lynne
This quilt is a fantastic lesson in how you can change a block by changing the value and colour of the individual patches. You have got at least 7 different looks to the block in the 4X3 lay-out. Who said you have to have 2 different blocks in a quilt to give diversity. Thank you for once again open my eyes to new possibilities
Glad you found your disk and the star blocks. Funny how things look different at a later time. I get tired of something and start something else. Mot a good thing sometimes. But it does make the creative juices flow better. Chris
Love the quilt. Normally I would not use this colorway, but your use of color in this quilt draws the eye in wanting to look at it more. I reorganized my entire sewing room 2 months ago, and there are things I still cannot find! I cannot wait to see what you do with the blues and white---my favorite.
Thank you for reminding me of the African animal print. I'm planning to create something similar. I would upload it to Spoonflower and get a reprint, but I'm rather sure it is under copyright.
Oh look Wanda, that green and purple you are stitching together has the same tones as the below photo of the redbuds! I think you have a redbud quilt in process.
My Dutch Wax prints do not duplicate yours. If you are itching to start this project, I could always mail them to you. There's quite a bit of other fabric in the bag that I'd like to get rid of too though.
I love the stars. I wish I had the luxury of having to 'thin out' Lily of the Valley. I am sure they would not grow in this humid, arid soil! I always love seeing your rich garden plants.
