Cutting and sorting

I sorted through all of the Kaffe's and Philip Jacobs fabrics for all of the yellows plus a couple pinks and lavenders.  I showed a quilt in Kaffe's newest book a few weeks ago that I might try to make.

I pulled the fabric for the borders for a Kaffe Trip Around the World that I made a couple years ago.  The fabric has been laying on the cutting table for a week so yesterday I finally cut it.  It is a 2" and an 8" border.

The cardinals and mourning doves have been regular visitors to my backyard this spring.  The cardinal is such a bright spot with all of the brown on the path and green plants.

  1. What beautiful yellows. They look like sunshine. I was inspired by all your girgeous strippy style quilts and made a little one from tiny strips of springish fabric. It turned out so sweet. No robins in my yard yet. Still snow on the ground.

  2. those two borders for the Kaffe "Trip" make me want to go upstairs directly. And sew! They are amazing together - can't wait to see this completed! I'm still dreaming about your beachball quilt. Thank you for keeping your kind of inspiration at finger's length!

  3. Absolutely love the borders. Beautiful.

When they built the house next door, our cardinals left when they cleared the wooded lot. They are slowly making their way back to the area.

  8. HI Wanda,
I have Kaffe's new book and one of his other books out from the library just now. I also got my fat quarters from Paducah but other quilts need to come first.
I love the big Dahlia border- the colors are sensational.
The cardinal is such a beautiful bird. I am not sure that I have ever seen one in real life.
Thanks for sharing your bright splash of color.
    Warmest regards,
    Anna

  10. Hi Wanda,
that Kaffe trip around the world is going to be stunning, judging from the link.

I have hostas in various states of unfolding as well. Everything in our area is about 2 weeks ahead Even lilacs, a mid-May staple, are popping!
