Just in case you think everything that goes up on my design wall gets sewn, I'm telling you that sometimes they don't.
I took the identical set of triangles that I made the zig zag quilt from and took an idea I had drawn on graph paper and spent all morning on this. It will NOT be sewn. I will go back to sewing the zig zag and when I'm done, all of this will come back down off the wall into piles of color.
Added 7:20 p.m. This group of fabrics is a charm quilt, only one piece of each fabric. Therefore I can't add the "right" color in or it won't be a charm quilt any more. I will use this design later in a more controlled group of fabrics.
Gotta love those design walls! Thanks for sharing the good and not as good parts to your design process!
ReplyDeleteIt would make a nice backing.
ReplyDeletewhy would you not use if for a quilt? It looks pretty to me :)

Wanda, please explain to us what it is you don't like about it. Some would put that in a pattern, give it a sassy name and make $$$$$ off of it (which I find totally unnecessary.) Tell us what is not working for you and why, please?
ReplyDeleteoooh... keep playing with this one for a while - I like what you're doing here. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the design and the Kaffe fabrics! I want a design wall so bad. Sigh...it will have to wait until we buy a house in the next year! Thanks for sharing. Stephanie in Michigan
ReplyDeleteBut you don't tell us Why? For ordinary mortals such as I .... I would be just thrilled to my little toes to have done something so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI can only presume you have a good reason.
Blessings, Val
I love the centre that's red surrounded by the lighter triangles and then the mostly blue squares. I'd be tempted to keep enlarging it with the reds and lights and blues.
ReplyDeleteWanda - I think the 'discarded' one has some real potential. I love the diamonds within the diamonds. The color play needs a little tender care but the beauty of the quilt is definitely there.

I'm just getting caught up on your blog. Loving all the layouts you test. Thanks for sharing so much of your talent, I learn every time you post new pictures
ReplyDeleteThat is a great design, I'm looking forward to seeing it when you do make it.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell ya, I think it's pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love the design. Can't wait to see a finished version with the more controlled set of colors.
ReplyDeleteI really love this design! It looks like sparkling gemstones to me. I can't wait to see it again.
ReplyDeleteI like this one too. Does it have to be a charm quilt - can't it just be? Is there another reason why you didn't want to go on with it? It really seems to sparkle, even though it needs a bit of reworking on the right, etc.
ReplyDeleteI snapped a photo of a Kaffe quilt at Lancaster that made me think of you! (I don't think that it is uploaded yet.)
