I have started to pull fabrics for the star quilt. I want it to have a moody tapestry look but with a little spark. I'm not sure if this is it, but I will probably cut a bunch of pieces in all of the sizes and layout some blocks.
Fabrics pulled at 11:15 p.m. That is why everyone should have a stash.
Love the combos! I have some of that lime green batik that is second from the right and love it! Yes, having a stash allows you to play at any given time day or night.
If I had a stash like yours I'd be 'shopping' in there all the time. Yummy colours! I love that star quilt! Can't wait to see you put that all together!
I like all of those colors you have chosen. I was doing the same thing last night pulling out my boxes of scraps for some applique. Karen http://karensquilting.com/blog/
I think this is one of the most beautiful color combinations I have seen in a very long time. It is gorgeous and rich and has wonderful depth. I cannot wait to see how this works up.
Although it's absolutely freezing outside, I feel warmer just from looking at these fabrics.
Funny how some fabrics are so popular amongst batik lovers. Like several others here, I have a couple of these. Just love the lime green ones. You have inspired me to start 'shopping' for my paisley quilt that has been in my mind for months.
Thanks for sharing... can't wait to finished result!
Your Batiks are beautiful, my next project will use Batiks in Peacock colors. Half my fabrics have arrived, using some of the same ones you have posted here, waiting for backorders so I can begin designing. You are always an inspiration with your creativity and so many finished quilts.
With regard to yesterday's picture. My suggestion would be to take off the floral border already on & replace it with a more "solid" one like the brown dots you showed in the picture. Then you can add your bright strips or almost anything else & it won't get "lost."
You have a lot of very nice texture going on, which will contribute to the tapestry feel you are going for. I'm liking how the colors pull from that floral fabric and how the purple batik gives a secondary pop. I can't wait to see it coming together.
Having a stash is a great thing- I love collecting and petting and playing with my fabrics. Your new quilt sounds interesting and I am sure it will be another smashing one when you have it put together. Happy playing, Regards, Anna

ReplyDeleteLooks yummy. I agree about having a stash. You never know when the creative juices will run full force and you need your stash!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteNope, I don't have any of those batiks. (Maybe the front maidenhair fern in a different colorway). I'm thinking I need some of that green!
Great color combo.
