I had all of the ditch quilting done, hadn't decided how to quilt the borders, and then decided to use a double needle and 2 different colors of purple thread. After I quilted the borders I decided to just experiment with the double needle stitching in other places. When I finished I was sure I had ruined it and then I took it to the ironing board and steam pressed from the back. Well now it was not too bad, certainly not a winner in anyone's book but passable.I quilted in a spiral formation in this block.I stitched through the narrow bands in the piecing in 2 different directions.I have started hand stitching the binding (bottom of top picture). I'll show the whole picture tomorrow when the binding is done.
I got the back of a twin size quilt sewn together yesterday and will quilt that today. We're back in the deep freeze outside so it will be a good day to quilt.

I never thought of quilting with a double needle. I used to use one a lot to decorate polar fleece jackets. It looks like pin tucks. Maybe I'll try it on my next wall hanging.
The twin needle stitching looks very effective.
You'er on a roll with the quilts Wanda.
I, too, think it looks very good with the double-stitching.
Actually from my point of view, it looks very nice! I like it. Never thought of doing it this way, but it is effective. Enjoy staying cuddled up inside today!
Oh my gosh, I think you jsust solved a quandry I was having on my Initiative piece!
I have owned a double needle for years but have been too scared to try it. I think your quilt looks great and am so impressed by how much to get done. Thanks for posting every day, it's a happier read than the newspaper!
Show us the whole quilt!!! I like all the different reds and purples.
I think the double line is cool, it's always good to experiment.
I've not thought of trying a double needle to stitch on a quilt. I must try it. Your productivity just amazes me! I was so happy to notice the link for Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I have some but not quite enough to start a quilt. I just ordered a roll.
Fun to see your "experimental quilting". It seems to add 'whimsy' to a tailored piece.

I think this is a great idea! Save yourself some effort for a fantastic effect.
What a great idea using a double needle!! I like the effect. I would love to see the whole quilt too.
I enjoy seeing your new ideas. That quilt in the previous post is a stunner!
I second Rebel's request. Please post a picture of the whole top. Also one of the back as I'm curious what the twin needle stitching looks like there. Thanks.
The double needle is such great fun!!! I used it on a knit recently and was annoyed that I had waited so long as the effect is so nice! I really like what you did with it. Wanda, you just keep on surprising and inspiring!!!
It looks really good, what a clever idea. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
It looks great.. I would love to see the back please, please. I'm never sure about the zig-zaggy thing, I once tried the double needle to quilt but I thought it wasn't "right" for the back... I am much more liberated now! he he
can we see piccys of the back, please?
