Here are a couple students' quilts from the finishing class. I showed this one partially sewn a month ago from the last class and she sewed the border on today. Her son loves orange so I'm sure he'll be happy with this one. Here is another student's work, Disappearing 9-patch and Bento Box quilts. She got all of her Bento Box squares done and layout planned. We also figured out her batting requirements and a piecing diagram for one of the quilt backs.
I really liked the layout! I can't believe you put it back in the box!!!! But I am sure however you end up arranging it, it will look amazing as per usual.
ReplyDeleteYou are right if her son likes orange, he will love this quilt! I love your batik layout just beautiful. If you aren't going to sew it together then what will become of it?
ReplyDeleteI like the layout too and isn't it fun to just play with scraps!
ReplyDeleteThe student quilts turned out well. What a great feeling for them! I especially like the Bento Box squares. Your exercise in values is so pretty. Thank you for sharing it 'outside the box!' Are you waiting for more hst blocks?

ReplyDeletethe layout is wonderful - love those colors - can see why you are not sewing it though if you use if for showing what you can do with color for your classes.

I'm working on a values quilt myself. And by working I say that I am still cutting squares for my half square triangles.
ReplyDeleteI love playing with my little squares and then putting them all back in the box. Guess we did the same thing with blocks when we were children - only to do it all over again the next day.
ReplyDeleteSome lovely work done by your students.I am sure the ladies son will love his quilt.
ReplyDeleteI always find it interesting when you play with colour and they do look good if you use the right value.
Thanks for sharing your students' work and your value squares. I get too tempted playing and want it to become 'something'. Maybe I should learn to play - harder!:)
ReplyDeleteLove the layout you used for your HST's. The students' quilts are great -- love the Bento box one!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, Another great lesson in
ReplyDeletecolor and value. Thank You!! jmh
I like the orange quilt, especially how the colors vary over the top.
ReplyDeleteWow - what a great lesson in the importance and use of color. Thanks for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love spending an evening with you watching a video!
