They wore me out!

Here are a couple students' quilts from the finishing class. I showed this one partially sewn a month ago from the last class and she sewed the border on today. Her son loves orange so I'm sure he'll be happy with this one. Here is another student's work, Disappearing 9-patch and Bento Box quilts. She got all of her Bento Box squares done and layout planned. We also figured out her batting requirements and a piecing diagram for one of the quilt backs.
I was really tired last night so while I watched the DVD "The Proposal" I played with the squares in this little box.
Think value when designing one of these. Even if I didn't group the colors it still would work if the values are in the right place.
I'm not going to sew it together. I just picked up all of the squares and put them back in the box.

  1. I really liked the layout! I can't believe you put it back in the box!!!! But I am sure however you end up arranging it, it will look amazing as per usual.

  2. You are right if her son likes orange, he will love this quilt! I love your batik layout just beautiful. If you aren't going to sew it together then what will become of it?

  5. the layout is wonderful - love those colors - can see why you are not sewing it though if you use if for showing what you can do with color for your classes.

  6. I'm working on a values quilt myself. And by working I say that I am still cutting squares for my half square triangles.

  7. I love playing with my little squares and then putting them all back in the box. Guess we did the same thing with blocks when we were children - only to do it all over again the next day.

  8. Some lovely work done by your students.I am sure the ladies son will love his quilt.
I always find it interesting when you play with colour and they do look good if you use the right value.

  9. Thanks for sharing your students' work and your value squares. I get too tempted playing and want it to become 'something'. Maybe I should learn to play - harder!:)
