He's working his way all across the top of it, peeling it and dropping the skin to the ground.
A little later I looked out and he had left it up there between the "fingers" of the broken off branch.
About a half hour later I saw him back (I assume it was the same one) and he grabbed it in his mouth and took off down the tree and ran all the way across my yard and into the neighboring yard. They are fun little creatures to watch.

Anonymous, you asked me a question yesterday, but I have no way of getting back to you. If you are an anonymous and you have a question, there is a link to my email on the right sidebar of my blog.
What great shots of the squirrel with the gourd!!
ReplyDeleteThey are entertaining! Fabulous pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat nature photography. You caught him at just the right times.
ReplyDeleteHow cute.
ReplyDeleteI love watching squirrels too, I have a view of the workshop from my computer - they run over the roof and hop into the trees. Sometimes two or three of them will get into a chase and hide on the roof - it is fun to watch them.

Too cute! My grandmother always called squirrels "the children of the woods" -- an apt description of the playful creatures. Thanks for the smile!

ReplyDeleteI love your squirrel pictures!!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little moocher! That just shows you how sharp their teeth are -- peeling a gourd!
Hope you are getting your pre-company tasks done and a little sewing, too.

p.s. I meant to ask on an earlier post; did your dad do the aerial photo of your farm, or was that someone else's work?
I didn't know they ate gourds....how interesting. We have squirrels here. They eat my bird food and bury acrons all over the yard......when the birds dive-bomb the squirrels they use their long bushy tail like shields. Very funny.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to see that mr/ms. squirrel saw the fingers on that tree branch and used it to his/her advantage. I sometimes wish I was like Dr. Doolittle and was able to talk to the animals... I would ask now did you go home and make room for that gourd before returning to retrieve it ?
ReplyDeleteAnd it really would tickle me if it were another squirrel that came in and stole it from it's friend. They are little hoarders I know that for sure.

ReplyDeleteLove the squirrel photos- Wanda.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know about the acrylic templates on sale- I contacted the lady today and ordered the two basic sets. I thought about ordering the advanced set too but decided I had spent enough on the two sets.Perhaps if I use those two sets I will order some of the speciality sets, Sue was lovely to talk to on the telephone and very accomodating about the shipping.
Blogging can be expensive.
Merry Christmas and best wishes of the season to you and yours.
Warmest regards,
Anna
