Log cabin centers

I started cutting the center squares for the Kaffe log cabin quilt. Mine will be similar to the one in the book but I don't have all of the same fabrics and I'm not going to hunt them down. I did get the same one Liza used for centers in the book though because nothing else I had was going to give the same effect.I laid the piece that was left over on the floor after cutting the 4.5" squares. After I took this picture I cut 3" squares out of the remaining flowers. This was a half yard piece and now I have to cut into a 1 yard piece to get the rest of the centers.
Here is a link to the quilt book that I showed previously. Just scroll down past the purple and yellow quilts.

I was glad to hear from some of you other nappers after yesterday's post. I probably should have added (for the people who can't fall asleep in the daytime) that I never lay down on a bed. I always nap in a recliner. I think that lets my body clock know that it is a nap and wakes me after 40 min. I also got to thinking that I started taking naps after I began having migraines at age 32. I don't know that I ever would have done it otherwise.

Those center squares are very inspiring!
regarding naps, I'm much more comfortable with the winter time, it fits my body better. And during weekends, I do nap, whatever the season. I would glady do so too at work, but that would not be appreciated, although I'm sure I would work much better if I were allowed to nap for 20 mn.
Some companies are starting to encourage napping in France. They showed one yesterday on TV, they need their employees to paint dolls, and they are much more productive if they nap. Even the boss naps with the employees, in a room full of couches and snuggling stuff. It was funny to see. :-)

Your log cabin quilt is just going to be luscious! That Kaffe print is fabulous and perfect for the centers. Like you, if I do take a nap it is not on the bed, it is in the chair in the living room.

Email fixed ;-)
I'm starting a Kaffe quilt as well. I'm doing the S-block quilt you see in The Country Garden book, except mine will be in blue and purples. I'm pretty excited about it. Can't wait to see yours!

It is going to be pure joy to watch this piece grow. I had to go back twice to look at those floral centers from the book.

I am glad yours will be similar and not a duplicate. I know yours will be spectacular.

Your centers are gorgeous, can't wait to see your blocks put together.
Did you finish the binding on your UFO?
Enjoy your nap.

I'm looking forward to the results of this too. As for the emails, I love hearing from you, but hate the idea that I'm cutting into your quilting time. I'm thinking: reply if I ask a question?

So excited to see your quilts in a copy of "Strips that Sizzle" that my library finally found for me in a small town library in our province. It is even personally signed!

Wowsers ... this one is going to be fantastic (even just seeing the center blocks all by themselves)!

Wanda, I just wanted you to know that your blog was a topic of discussion this weekend at our quilt retreat here in Pennsylvania. I took your journal cover tutorial, which proved to be a big hit, but most of the discussion centered around how much we all enjoy your pictures and your way with color and design. We just love checking in to see what you are up to.

You certainly have some fans amongst the White Oaks retreat ladies here in eastern PA, including Nancy, Near Philadelphia! Actually, Nancy may not be blogging for a while because she is too busy making those covers!

Hi Wanda,
I just got a copy at B&N today (they only had one) so have been drooling over the pages since.
I know yours is going to look great!

I love seeing a piece of fabric after fussy cutting! Sometimes it looks like Swiss cheese! Your quilt will be fabulous with those centres.

I'll bet your LC will be fantastic. I agree, those flowers NEED to be the center square...they're so beautiful. It will be fun to watch this develop.

I nap too, on occasion. Only 15 minutes for me...I set a timer. Otherwise I have trouble sleeping at night. It's usually enough to help. I don't think there's anything wrong with that...some of the greatest minds used to nap! Do you think we could count ourselves in that group?? *grin*

This is not going to be a "quiet" quilt then? (giggle)

Those centers will be stunning in your log cabin. What will you do with the 3" ones? That's smart to cut them out now, instead of later coming across the fabric all cut to bits.
