Here are the colors my 4 students were working with at the Strips 'n Curves class and some of the pieces they had cut and arranged on their design walls.
Rainbow colors with 2 prints added.
Turquoise and purple with lots of fabrics in the strata.
All batiks. She has 3 stratas so this one could end up twin size.
A 2 color strata like I did in my lilac version. It was fun watching the progress and had me itching to make another strata to cut up.
Last night was wildlife night in my backyard. When the security light came on the first time I just saw the bird feeder swinging but didn't see any animals. Then it came on again a few minutes later and the whole raccoon family was there, 2 adults and a baby. I scared them away and a few minutes later the light came on again and the opossum was out there. It makes me wonder if I should have bird feeders out there.
Wow! I miss visiting for a few days and it is amazing to me what is all accomplished. These students are so lucky to have you to teach them color.
ReplyDeleteYou just have a gift.
Sounds like it was a lively night out in your backyard!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting all the work from your students! I love their fabric choices, especially that cool color set. Inspiring! I may have to try one of these quilts in the future!
Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing all the looks that can be created with this block. I can't even say which is my favorite.
Do you have baffles on your bird feeders? We had trouble with mainly squirrels climbing the poles and emptying the feeders in one session until we got baffles. They still climb the poles (daily) but can't get past the baffle.

Those are all cool! I love seeing how different fabrics and colors totally change the same pattern.
ReplyDeleteWe had flying squirrels at our feeders 2 nights ago.
Those are all gorgeous! Hope you'll show us the finished quilt tops too. I need another project like I need a "hole in the head", but now I'm "itching" to make a strata too!! Wanda, you are always a source of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have some great students. I especially love the rainbow batik strata. I hope you get a chance to see the finished products! They're already awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. Very insightful.

I am so glad I picked up the book, some very interesting design possibilities.
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW!
ReplyDeleteWill we get to see pictures of the finished quilts?!!!
About the possums....I saw one on my back porch one night and thot it looked like "death."....They just creep me out.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the baffles.....oh, and very pretty quilts in the making....*S*
what a great exhibit of different fabric choices! I have the book... maybe will have to do something with it. How about coming out to teach in California sometime?
ReplyDeleteThose are all gorgeous! I think I like the three batik strata best -- but they're all so wonderful it's hard to pick! I hope we get to see photos of the finished quilts too.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love, love, love them all! Very inspiring to see their progress and lovely fabric selections!
ReplyDeleteEach one is so different, but equally gorgeous. I love them. You are a terrific teacher, they are learning well. I know that if I had feeders in my backyard right now, the black bears would be frequent visitors.
ReplyDeleteThe work is looking fab-u-lous.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me where to find those wonderful large template?
Sono bellissimi!
