Another random layout........
Yesterday Lynda suggested putting the largest blocks in the center and the smaller ones around it for another random layout. It made sense to me so I tried it and I kind of like it. Nothing is set in stone yet. It is definitely better than yesterday's random layout. If I go with this one I have to make some specific size blocks to fill in AND find the fabric for the spaces. I think a solid color would be too bold and would grab all of the attention.
While I was contemplating I went for a walk around the house. This is my birds' eye view of my porch pots.
I like the layout of the blocks. I have to say I do like the progression of the big blocks in the center to the smaller blocks. Your flowers are absolutely gorgeous! I also went around the house 2 days ago snapping photos of flowers. I will be posting them soon.
ReplyDeleteI like that layout!
ReplyDeleteHello, Wanda, I always love your blocks. And your flowers are beautiful.I like this layout too. Hugs from Brazil. Here is vere cold today
ReplyDeleteYou have some of the most beautiful flowers. I envy you the beautiful blooms. I look forward to how you will finish this blocks.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note to say I continue to enjoy your happy positive blog.

Glad you went back to the random layout but the larger blocks in the middle was a positive suggestion. Hang in there with Dad, been there, done that.
ReplyDeleteThat is a neat layout. Reminds me of a successful wall of photos that I once saw. Flowers are great. I finally have a peony in bloom... we are 'enjoying' a cool spring/summer. Stick with it with your father. Doing this honors him, and God will (and is) blessing you for it!
ReplyDeleteFor a minute I thought you were doing a dimensional wall hanging, with openings in between some of the blocks. I was like... wow, has she taken it to another level...
ReplyDeleteThen I read the post and understood... duh... anyway, I like the idea of larger in the middle with smaller around them. Can't wait to see the final version.
Cheers!
i really like t his layout. Now I see picture frames around a light switch.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just so lovely!
It is fun to see you 'play' with those blocks. I have a feeling you will continue with yet another design.
ReplyDeleteLove your "birds eye view" of your your beautiful blooming flowers.

This layout is definitely more 'you'. What about using another few Kaffe's as bricks in those spaces, instead of a solid?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could give a solid a try? It might be just right to emphasize the unusual layout. I don't think that a solid ever concurs with these vivid patterns.
ReplyDeleteHard to tell what is more pleasure to look at, the wealth of plants or patterns.
I like this layout and would just put more Kaffe prints in the negative spaces. It's already busy and colorful, so I think more would be in keeping. They would be like faux centers (of more blocks). Besides, if you hate it, I'd be happy to take such a quilt top off you hands! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like this layout but I wonder how it would look with the small ones in the middle. Explosion or implosion I guess.
ReplyDeleteI like the bigger blocks in the centers too. How about making some strip piecing of a variety of fabrics to fill in the spaces.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy visiting your blog everyday to see your newest colorful block layouts, LOVE them all! And the pictures of your flowers in your yard are just so inspiring! Thank you for posting even now during what must be a an exceptionally hard time for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is really nice to have a speaker phone to use. My auntie's phone has that ability and it is priceless when we need to talk to doctors or government.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of this layout as well. Can't wait to see how you finish it.
ReplyDeleteGood suggestion from Lynda. I like this version.
ReplyDeleteHI Wanda
ReplyDeleteYour porch pots look gorgeous already, newly planted. Mine still look rather dinky.
I like today's block arrangement. I can see some sort of multicolor classy batik tying it together.
Hope the interview with your dad went well.
