Binding finally done!

This one is 72" x 94" so it took a long time to hand finish the binding. You can see that I have better lighting to the left side of the picture. I really need to find a better solution to even lighting. This Turning Twenty Again will be used on one of the twin beds in my house. The binding is one of the purple batiks that is also in the quilt (top right corner above).
I purchased the backing at one of those "25% off if you finish the bolt" sales. It is a Moda batik.
I have seen pictures from Nebraska where our snow storm is coming from. They are predicting at least 2" for us, more up by the Wisconsin border. If the storm sticks around all day Monday we may get more. My mother has a dr. appt. Monday morning. The last appointment was in a thunderstorm. It looks like all we have to do is make an appointment and we will have stormy weather.

  1. Will we see a picture of the quilt on the bed? Amomg the pictures of quilts you find on the internet, there are only few shown in use. I think this is where they look best!

  2. I wish I had the space and an excuse to work on a design wall. The batiks are beautiful but it's what you have done with them that makes them "sparkle". I con't to enjoy following what you are working on.

  4. It's gorgeous - I love the fabrics you used in it!! Snow in April seems all too cruel. I hope you don't get too much.

  5. So far this morning we just have a sprinkling, across the river in IA, but they say they worst will be about noon for us. They are only predicting about 2 - 4".

    Congratulations on another finish!!!

  6. Wonderful finish! It will look lovely on the bed. I can't believe that Mother Nature is sending another storm your way. Doesn't she know it is officially spring? I hope you are able to make the appointment and the weathermen are incorrect!

  10. Oh yeah I forgot. Have a good safe trip to the doctors. Since you realize that bad weather is on the way when you have appointments maybe the weather gods will change their pattern and bless you with good weather. Yeah right!

  11. Snow in April -- ugh, we have a chance of FLURRIES on Monday night into Tuesday morning. Hey wait! I live in Alabama. I am gonna cry FOUL! The last time we had snow in April was well over ten years ago. Is someone laughing at us? Is this global warming?

  12. Hi Wanda,
The quilt is gorgeous-and I love the backing- it is perfect for the quilt. You do find the best deals..
I have not used the Turning twenty pattern but have seen some lovely ones- none lovelier than yours though..
Snow is indeed getting tiresome- we had some flakes on Thursday and the weekend here in Alberta has been cool. We keep hopeing that spring will come. The piles of snow are melting but not fast enough for me... So if you have an in with Mother Nature , just remind her that the calendar says it is time for spring :O)
HOpe you have a safe journey to the doctors. May all be well at the appointment.
    Regards,
    Anna

  18. Hi Wanda,
this is a relatively "calm" quilt for you, huh?
"The winter that will not end" is right! The snow may not be too bad, but drivers have to learn all over again how to drive in the stuff. Just go slow and let others go in the ditch, OK?

  19. Beautiful! I just love these colours! You are so productive Wanda. I wish I could find the time to just do one properly. Still haven't found a walking foot for my sewing machine. It may be too old!! I am deciding whether to hand quilt it.
