I think this one is called "out of control". LOL
This is straight furrows.

I have made some more blocks which I haven't pressed yet, with a grand total of 48. With it being a 7" block, that will be 42" x 56" finished with a layout of 6 blocks by 8 blocks. I can make it bigger by adding another round of strips or making more blocks but I think I am ready to go on. I will probably try some more layouts today but first I have to fill in for a couple hours at the sewing machine store.
I really LOVE seeing all these layouts!
ReplyDeleteI like them all so I think that you should make enough blocks to do every one of them!
ReplyDeleteI tuoi colori sono sempre bellissimi!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe log cabin is such a versatile block. I like the layout that makes one huge star. I learned that one from a blogger's comment when I did a wonky log cabin quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the log cabin block, you can do so much with them. you are making me want to get out my boxes of scraps and start to see what I can do with them, but I'm working on too many things right now and can't!!
ReplyDeleteOk I could, but I'm not going to until I get more started projects finished :)

I like all those layouts!!! If I had to choose one, I think I'd go with the first one in this post.
ReplyDeleteOoh - I like the "out of control" along with the barn raising :)
ReplyDeleteI like the barn raising layout, but with all the great fabrics used, any of them is sure to please!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteAll your layouts are nice, but I prefer the first one, "straight furrows interrupted", and the zig-zag.
A friend and I just got done making one of these with one-inch strips (64 blocks). Turned out nice, but we soon learned the definition of "tedious". Whew.

I wish I had that many log cabin blocks finished to play lay out scramble with - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI particularly love the Straight furrows setting -- seems very spring like to think of rows of pretty things all growing in those rows!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I love them all....but if I had to vote ~ I think the top one is my favorite....followed closely by streak of lightening at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for taking the time to lay out all the variations and photograph them for us.
I like the "interrupted" version best followed by the zig zag layout...
ReplyDeleteThose Log Cabin blocks are such fun to create with... I just love the fabrics in those blocks,(my current favorite) and was amazed at all the patterns you have shown us today. Knowing you... your finished creation is still coming.

You may have been joking, but i love the "out of control" setting. Not sure why, maybe it speaks to mylife.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting and pictures.
And that spring may be coming again to Northern IL. The sun is shining today..finally
Luminous!! I, too, love them all, but especially "interrupted"!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty blocks, Wanda. I like Interrupted and Out of Control the best..a little on the wild side for log cabin. Any setting will be nice with these blocks.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one. It is quite untraditional.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to see all the different layouts. Love the colours.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see all the great layouts that can be created from the Log Cabin block. I especially like the pastel and lighter color blocks you've done.
