A good day

These pictures aren't so great because they were taken at night on the design wall that doesn't have enough light. I'll try to get a better one today. I sewed these blocks together last night and now I will play with border possibilities. This one just needs a frame or possibly no border at all. It is 36" square right now. I decided to border Cobblestones 3. It has a design flaw that only a border would fix. Here again I need better lighting to show off its beauty.
I also finished cutting the stacks of fabrics to send to Jackie to have cut with the Accuquilt cutter. It is kind of like a drunkard's path pattern and it has notches cut at the centers of the arcs. That is something I couldn't do with a rotary cutter. If you click on the link it will take you to the page where she has cut some for herself.

We're down in the deep freeze again for the weekend. Next Wednesday back in the 40's again. Every cold spell seems so much colder after a few warm days.

  1. The cobblestones are lovely as usual. The border seems a good fit. It does make me a bit curious what you considered a flaw though. LOL!

  2. I love this Cobblestones version. How the light glows in the middle! Cool. Yes I want to know what you thought the flaw was, too!!! How neat about the Accuquilt cutter dealie. Looking forward to seeing what you piece up with those!

  3. That accuquilt cutter is amazing. The things people are coming up with to make things easier and faster as well as more accurate.
What a great stack of fabric you are sending. Cannot wait to see what you come up with after you get them back.

  4. The flaw is invisible to the naked eye! It looks great with the border.

  5. The quilt looks great pieced. I like it with no border. I did not add a border to my strata quilt and I think it works well that way. But if you do add a border, I agree only a frame. The Cobblestones 3 is beautiful and I can not see any flaw. The chocolate border was definitely the right choice of color. OOOO... I can't wait to get that nice little stack of fabrics to cut. They look absolutely gorgeous. That top piece is wonderful. Thanks for the mention, I appreciate that very much!

  6. I went to Jackie's blog that shows the curves she can cut with the Accuquilt cutter. Very impressive and I can see why you are sending her a good supply of fabrics. Fun ahead for you I can see that.

Cobblestone 3 ~ I agree with Joyce 'the' flaw is invisible.

String top~ Love it, just fascinating.

  7. Hi Wanda
I love the border with the cobblestones 3. I don't see a flaw, but perhaps it's the upper right corner that you don't like so much?

The top strippy quilt would look good with the same color border (or just the binding) as the cobblestone one -- would bring out the gold.

  9. Your string quilt is lovely. Oh, my that would make them 6" blocks, right? Wow. It seems lately I've been working with lots of 6 1/2" blocks. It sure takes more of them to make something. The cobblestones are great. I know you talked before about the red block near the bottom (I think?)and maybe wanting to change it. It looks good no matter what. The chocolatey border makes the center glow.

  12. Wow, you seem really busy. I like the photo the stack of blocks ready for the cutter. They're so neatly stacked, as if asking to be flipped through and felt.

  13. This is completely remarkable. I would expect to find this framed at a famous art museum. I love it!
