I just wanted some no brainer busy work to do last night while I listened to the president's speech. I finished cutting all of the scraps of flannel into whatever size I could get out of them. These pencil boxes were on sale for 50 cents each so I bought a bunch to use for storage until I am ready to sew. I used a little post-it flag on top of each with the size of the squares in it. I am going to sew the 4" squares first so I didn't bother to put them in a box.
Our temperature was all the way up to 40 yesterday. It may not sound like anything to celebrate but after our cold December and January it is a treat. We have also had a lot of sunshine in February to make the days seem warmer even if they weren't. Today is supposed to be even warmer than yesterday.
those pencil cases are a great idea for holding the precut pieces!
ReplyDeleteGreat system and great deal on the boxes! I hope that some of your warmer air is coming our way. I have to say that my body acclimated to the warmer AZ weather and no being back in CT it just seems so cold.
ReplyDeleteFlannel and 40 above sounds good -- it is -19 C (-3 F) here, windy, snowing and cold. The weather seems to come in through the house and permeate the bones... that kind of day. I might wrap myself in a quilt for the rest of it! (Or go buy some pencil boxes!)
ReplyDeleteI love piles of freshly cut squares -- seems like the world is full of infinite possibilities! I used to feel that way when I had a new notebook and a pack of clean notebook paper on the first day of school.
ReplyDeleteGreat storgage idea. I have mine in baskets but they keep getting messed up and mixed up. WHere did you find the pencil boxes?
ReplyDeleteLove those pencil boxes - I found mine at Tarrrr-jay (they were on sale after the beginning of the school year) ... maybe at the dollar store, too? Especially like it because of the clear (see-through) sides!
ReplyDeleteThose pencil boxes are the perfect storage idea!! I know what I'll be hunting for at the dollar store. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're to go to 40 tomorrow. I can't wait -- even though 2 days later we're back below freezing.
I knew that stack of Sterilite boxes I picked up in January at Walmart would be useful for something - I got the blue-lidded ones from the close-out aisle! I've already got stacks of 2.5" squares sitting around in miscellaneous unmarked not-see-through boxes. Time to move them over! Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteCutting your various sized squares from scraps yet. Impresses me. You are 'the' one quilter I know, that never lets a scrap go into the basket.
ReplyDeleteAnd so neatly stacked in their individual boxes. And a great bargain and I know that feels good to find a deal like that.
