Time to quilt

I have moved this little piece too many times and it is time to quilt it. It is the leftovers from a large quilt that I also have not finished. When the security lights came on at 8 p.m last night I had 2 visitors, mom and baby opossums. This is a blurry picture but the best one I got from the kitchen window. They were cleaning up under one of the bird feeders. First the mom was eating and the baby was trying to play with her. Then she came closer to the house to groom and the baby started eating. If you click on the picture you will see that her nose really is pink.
The sun is shining again today so the cold is bearable. The snow melted off the driveway yesterday but there is still a little left on the grass.

  1. How will you quilt it? I am quilting today also, so will post updates later.
The opossum is adorable. I used to leave the back door propped open so the cats could get in if they wanted to, and a opossum wandered in. The light was on back there and I guess he was drawn toward it. He eventually wandered back out.

  3. Hi Wanda,
Love your pretty "forgotten" quilt top. For some reason I am feeling compelled to offer a name for it:

    "Windows on the sunset"

Possums are cute and ugly at the same time. One hissed at me once when I got too close.

  4. As always your fabrics are enchanting. This quilt may be small but has such huge appeal.

I 'googled' opposum to find out if they hibernate in the winter, they don't. They will stay in an area with food and shelter... you may end up with a family of them in your back yard, if the cats don't get them first.

  5. That is a wonderful little quilt -- so rich and yummy. It makes me think of purple velvet and red/pink silk for some reason.
I've never seen an opossum!! For some reason I thought they were much larger.

  7. Thanks Wanda! I just dropped by for a little colour fix! Great quilt! And your little furry night creatures are very cute! I don't know if we have opossums here or not. I have never seen one.

  9. I am thinking you do better work with leftovers than I do with the stuff I cut out.

  10. I love the little quilt. I often do the same thing, move a project around the room, mainly because I want it to stay in front of me so I don't forget to finish. When I have moved it one too many times then it becomes time for me to complete it.

I had an opossum run across the street in front of my car when I was returning home one night. They kind of remind me of very large rats. Kind of like Vicky F said cute but ugly at the same time.

  13. Hot colors, love those pinks. Will you ditch quilt it again? I really liked the last quilt you did that way, with the rows of stitching in the wide strip. It was up in the 40s today, but we still have plenty of snow on the ground. Spring is right around the corner.
