A normal person could probably throw away these little scraps which measure between and inch and 2 inches.
When I was trimming I saw this flaw in one piece of fabric so I will have to see if I have any more of it to replace this piece. (piece on the left, click for closer view)
I like that layout. It's going to be a very calming quilt. Your snow pics are very pretty. I don't think we are going to get any snow here this year. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteI love the layout and hte overall effect! As to keeping the tiny pieces -- well, I can definitely appreciate why you'd keep them! So would I!
ReplyDeleteThe snow pictures are wonderful, although I wish we didn't have any of that stuff! We're supposed to have quite strong winds today with resulting nasty wind chill values. I'm staying in!
I like the zig zag lay out - it looks like a vine, very cool.
ReplyDeleteLove the snow pictures too... so fluffy!
What - throw away such "big" pieces? Not me. They're even too big to put in the box I call "scraps, too small to use".
ReplyDeleteThe snow photos are wonderful. I enjoy your weather report as it is about the same here and I can decide if I want to go out by what you report for the day!

I like the layout :) The colors are so soft and pretty too! Must feel pretty good to be finishing this quilt?! And with such a beautiful result too ;)
ReplyDeleteDry snow! The cold will last. I learnt some weather rules from my mom who came from cold Estonia, she said: "When the wind blows the snow from the roofs and it looks like veils, it will start thawing within one or two days."
ReplyDeleteLove your snow photos! That layout looks good. The quilt will be quiet and comforting. What? Throw out good fabric? I keep all my scraps. That's why I need a whole room to store my stuff!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, another lovely quilt...very easy on the eyes. As for the tiny??? pieces...I know you'll come up with something to do with them. No snow for us today. We're still digging out from Monday and Tuesday. It's supposed to be 40 today with another storm on the way Friday and Saturday. Let it snow...
ReplyDeleteThose photographs match the quilt! You should have them printed and frame them up to go with the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI really like that quilt. I'm not as much of a bright-color person as you, so those colors would be great for me...and the layout is very nice!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt. The layout is great! Isn't it frustrating when you finish up something then find a flaw. That has happened to me as well. The pictures you took of the snow and trees are terrific!
ReplyDeleteWhen you put all the pieces together it makes it look muted.i like it. Wig.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is quite a change for you. Fun to do something in different colors from what you usually choose.
ReplyDeleteI will be wonderful this spring.
What camera do you use? YOur pictures are always so sharp. I am waiting for the new 14 megapixel Canon to come out. They said it would after Christmas.
I love the photos of the snow...they are absolutely beautiful. It makes me want to have snow, just for one day!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone can figure out how to do it, I'd be happy to send our snow to those who would like some! (heehee)
ReplyDeleteWanda, your quilt is lovely and the photos are also inspiring. As I said before, how many ways can we say how much your work blesses us!!
Hi Wanda, Snow pictures are wonderful! And
ReplyDeletewhat you can do with a log cabin block is
beautiful! jmh
Somehow the quilt colours go with the snow! A calm quiet quilt.
ReplyDeleteWe used to occasionally get snow when we lived in Christchurch New Zealand- & the children loved it!
Living here, we never get snow! Sometimes hailstorms, but never snow.
What a wonderful pairing ~ the serene snow photos and the lovely quilt colors. . . stay warm!
ReplyDeleteooouu...your quilt reminds me of a watercolor painting!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I sure wish I could work as fast as you do. This will be such a pretty quilt, especially where I'm so partial to those floral fabrics and their watercolor effect. The snow pictures are cool, just like the ice crystals on your windowpanes were.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...what a great feeling to finish it after 3 years!!! Love the layout!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteI love the wavy zig-zag pattern. It almost fools the eye in an optical illusion sort of way. The typical log cabin is "supposed to be" straight lines, while these pieces are a tad wonky (on purpose); the eye doesn't want to believe it.
Great look, though.

Wanda, I really like these colors. The zig zag pattern makes me think of a stone sidewalk with mounds of flowers hanging over the edges. All those little pieces could go in a crumb quilt or one of your beautiful journals or even one of those cute zippered bags.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, love the zig zag quilt... colors pattern everything about it!
ReplyDeleteSnow photo's are gorgeous. You capture the best.
I'm playing catch up today.. I can't believe I have missed checking in since Tuesday. Busy week.

Your color sense is always so wonderful! I really like the pattern too. And the snow pictures are beautiful. You find beauty in everything. That is a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteExuberant muted color!
