I finished sewing all of the blocks together and am auditioning for borders. The green border to the left is the one I used in the centers of the last group, and the one on the right is another print in the same line as the centers in the first 50 blocks and is kind of a vine stripe. I'm going to try a few more things today. The other job: you see who was here again this morning.
The storm missed us. It has been snowing very lightly on and off here, but no accumulation to speak of. Looks like Tuesday may be a big storm for us.
ReplyDeleteI'm auditioning binding today... a step in the process that we enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOur weather took a nice turn... it is thawing this morning! After a long spell of -20 to -30, we are getting a break. Things will be icy, but the kids will love it; snowballs will be flying!
It's snowing here now in Connecticut. I love snow. I like your quilt and I like the border fabric that you are showing there. Nice.
ReplyDeleteGood thing you're out west. *S*
ReplyDeleteWe're getting lake effect relentlessly.......and it's sticking to the trees, so it's wet too.
I can't imagine it will be much fun playing with your shovel!LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt top, much more fun.
I love the border on the quilt. I think that fabric works well. It just started snowing here and they are saying it is going to snow all evening and into tomorrow morning. They are predicting 6 -10 inches! UGH!
ReplyDeleteThe snow pics give such a serence feeling, and it's so beautiful, but I have to admit that I'm glad that we're just getting rain. Stay warm! No doubt the border fabric(s) that are awarded the position after the auditioning will be just the right ones, as you have good judgement in these kind of choices.
ReplyDeleteSo anxious to see completed zig zag quilt. I too know you will select a dazzling border.
ReplyDeleteYour winter snows are not fun, I sure remember them well even though we have been gone for 42 years. You never forget them.
I checked your blog a couple hours ago and Saturday was not posted yet. Could it be all your snow that slowed down the internet? Just curious what time you posted all for today.

The zig zag log cabin quilt is looking good. Are you thinking of using both fabrics for borders? or deciding between them? I'm sorry about all the snow - I don't enjoy wintery weather much at all.
ReplyDeleteOh that is such a lot of lovely snow. I really am quite jealous :/
ReplyDeleteI find borders difficult. So very difficult. That is one thing I need to learn, how to add a border that looks good :)
Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look like anyone is voting, but here's my vote. I like the print on the right for the border. But if you are trying to keep everything very soft looking, then the other one would do.
We shoveled about a foot of snow off our deck this afternoon; good thing it was light and fluffy. Our weather man tells us we have reached our average yearly snowfall right now, with many more weeks of winter left. Oh goody.

Incredible snow scenes. We've had ice all day, but no snow. I'm ready for spring!
ReplyDeleteWe got some snow last night too, but not that much.....the quilt is looking good.
ReplyDeleteDecisions, decisions...I have complete faith that you will choose the best fabric for the borders. When your snow plow is finished...would you please send him my way????? P-L-E-A-S-E;)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is looking good. Very soft and flowery. Quite a change from what's out your window!
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I'm sure that playing with your fabric is more fun than playing with your snow shovel. Stay warm!
How does that saying go? When life gives you snow, stay indoors and make quilts. Yes! I think that's it!
