Look what came out of this eruption of scraps. It still needs binding.
I had an idea I wanted to try for the strips between vertical rows, so what better way to try it than on a small piece. If you think it looks narrower at the bottom, it is.
Here is a closeup of the quilting. I did ditch quilting first and then came back and added the 3 rows of purple stitching. That strip of soft beige/yellow was too wide and plain and needed something to balance it with the rest of the piece. 
It was 1 degree when I got up this morning. I think it sounds like a good day to quilt a quilt.
Very pretty and the three rows of purple quilting really complete it!

ReplyDeleteLove it! I don't know why, but this one really appeals to me. Our snow too is beginning to look less fluffy and we're not even supposed to get more this weekend!

Those three rows are a great idea. One time I used a double needle and put a wavy row of quilting using the machine's setting for a wavy line. It looked great but I forgot about that little trick. Thanks for the reminder... the quilting can do more than hold the sandwich together!

ReplyDeleteInteresting...what were you trying out that it came out smaller at one end? I think it is barely noticeable...I don't know that I would have noticed it if you wouldn't have said it.
