Yesterday morning I woke up to a 52 degree house. The batteries in the programmable thermostat had died. Once I got the house warmed up, it started to snow and snowed for almost 10 hours, 5" approximately. The storm I'm more worried about though is the one that is coming tomorrow night. They are saying and icy mix, or all ice or if we are lucky just a foot of snow. I keep hoping for a heat wave.

I really like the way this quilt turned out. It has such a nice look to it.
As for the weather, ahhh, winter in Illinois! Batten down the hatches, get out your new seed catalogs and dream of spring!
I just love that quilt! Snow and more snow. What can I say? I think we might just get a White Christmas this year!
These colours are really beautiful! What a portion of light green can do! This is as soothing to look at as a summer garden.
That's really beautiful - simple pattern turns into much more with the batiks, huh?
PS - the selvedges are in the mail!
I just love this one! The colors are so happy!

you've been getting lots done, wanda. i'm one of those that likes to show the fabric with the selvedge. i think they just go together. looking forward to seeing the projects you make from them.
Heat wave? Dream on, Wanda! I think we're into this frigid stuff until March!
LOVE the quilt! I think I want one like that!
That is absolutely gorgeous -- love the colours and the feeling of spring it gives. We need to feel like there is a real hope of spring going into weather like we've got forecast!
I really like this one and that is my favorite kind of quilting. With that weather it's a good thing you have lots of quilts.
We had 6" here, and I wondered if you had gotten so much out there. Looks like you did.
At least the wind went down. *S*
Another great quilt by you - I wish I could do that nice kind of quilting.
the quilt came out beautifully
the colors are perfect.
thanks for sharing it and yes I would be happy to take a few inches of snow here in NJ...
it just flurried last night, pretty though.

Oh man, chilly morning!! That sounds cruddy. I join you in hoping for a heat wave. Lovely december finish. The colors remind me of a nice summer day at a park, so a nice contrast to the weather.
Wanda, I really like this one too. My stash shows my preference for blues and greens, but you always know how to combine colors, even adding those that contrast. Good job.
We are -15 C which is about 5 F. TV warned about the storm that will hit IL, so keep warm and glad you were able to get your thermostat working before it hits.
LOVE the colors in this quilt. I have a pretty good-sized collection of batiks now and am looking forward to making a totally-batik quilt...maybe stars...not sure yet. STAY WARM!!! (Never thought about those thermostats not working due to their batteries going dead...UGH)
I don't think we are going to get any heat waves. Our prediction is for the same weather. We only got about three or four inches last night.
I love your December finish. It is beautiful! We are going to get a fantastic storm on Friday. They already have a winter storm warning up for all of CT. Then again more for Sun. EEEE Gads!! We had the warm weather the other day and I was loving it. Oh well, easy come easy go!
Beautiful! Blue and green are my favorites anyway, but this is just so pretty to look at.
I am in Oregon, and we have had light snow and ice since Saturday, with no end in sight. I think I'll pull out some flannel to work on, at least thats warm!
Brrr! I'm feeling a chill just thinking of a house at 52 degrees! Glad to hear it was as easy a replacing batteries to get you warmed up again. The quilt is so lovely. I just love the blues and greens. Nice spring colors.
wow, that is so perfectly beautiful, just my colors and ohmygosh *swoon* batiks. great work!
What a dazzling quilt! Just love it. Blues and greens have always been a favorite combination to me.
52 degrees! Bet you hopped around for a while. We have the frigid temps but only a sciff of snow here in the valley, but we canceled a trip to Seattle because of a storm that was to slam them and close Snoqualmie pass with 2 feet of snow.

D4P quilts are one of my favorites and I've had a version like this on my to do list for quite some time. I love your fabric choices.
Great quilt! Love the color palette!
This quilt is stunning! It is so nice to see the finished quilt. I'm glad your heat problem was a $2.00 repair. :) Good luck with the freezing rain. We've had 6 inches of snow from the storm so far.
Absolutely gorgeous! I love your colour choices.
this is one of my favorite quilts!
Simply beautiful - your choice of fabrics/colours never fails to impress!
Merry Christmas :)
