Should I get out the vacuum cleaner (and use it) to be ready for Thanksgiving dinner? No, I think I need to read the 2 magazines I got in the mail last week.Last night I started on a journal cover that I hope to use to do a little tutorial. I have cut the patchwork to the right height (3/4" to 1" taller than the notebook).
I am using a Composition book for this one. I need to add fabric for the inside flap.
Today I will get serious about cleaning. Yesterday was grocery shopping for the parents, getting gas, etc. No excuses, today I will get busy. Oh, but I just got a call from my mother and now I need to run out and get something for them.
And another way to procrastinate -- read blogs! Hope you get everything done for Thanksgiving, but it will still be Thanksgiving either way. Enjoy the holiday!
I feel like I am a quilter visiting your blog on a daily basis. Even though you know how sporatic I am with the little quilting I do, do. The Journal Covers and Pages are projects I can work in easily. Thanks for doing the tutorial on the cover.
And I want to run out and buy one of the magazines shown.
I agree with Joyce and Vicki. This thought just came to mind - we don't drop by to inspect your sinks and floors, but we put aside our cleaning rags every day to check out what you are doing with your quilts. (grin)
Perspective check: We had a big dinner Sunday, ten people, cleaned, cooked, etc. and five minutes before they arrived, the kitchen sink plugged up. Since the dishwasher is attached, a last minute change was in order... paper plates. Even with that, I was up until 1:00 am doing dishes in a small sink in our basement (couldn't leave them, quilting meeting on Monday). So all the preparation and cleaning got usurped anyway. I was calm, but poor hubby and one of the guys spent a couple hours out of our visiting time trying to unplug that dratted sink. No one noticed the clean house!
My vote, read the magazines, have a great time with Thanksgiving, family and friends, and we'll be back later for the tutorial!
Housework is always last on my list. Especially if there is something better to do. But eventually the hubby and kids make too much of a mess and I have to give in. I love your journal cover. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Quilting journals/magazines always have the highest priority at my house! Thanks for showing us some of the book cover how-to. This is something in which I'm definitely interested
I can't wait for the tutorial -- are you going to post it? Making a special quilting journal with a cover like that is definitely something that would be fun.
Ha...ha...you sound like me. I can think of 1,001 reasons (or more) to put off doing the cleaning. I always tell myself, "This time I won't leave it until the last-minute", but...I always do! I figure life is short, so at this stage of my life, I should only clean when I'm READY to clean and...the rest of the time...I should do what I want to do!
Isn't there a saying about a messy house being a sign of a creative mind?
I have nothing to speak of though, my company left today so my house is clean at the moment. That just means I earned my time with the magazines and your blog tonight. We won't talk about tomorrow or next week, I might incriminate myself.
oooh, wanda I love the bookcover. I surfed into your site just now and was so excited when i saw the header because i remembered your beautiful blog and beautiful colors from before! so it was a treat to revisit your site. i have it bookmarked (along with about a thousand other sites) so sometimes its hard to get back regularly and visit all the wonderful stuff everyone has. Glad to see you're still quilting strong and posting and inspiring the rest of us!

ReplyDeletePlease oh please do a tutorial on the journal cover! I've been trying to figure out how you put it together for days!
Love your blog!

Cleaning is vastly overrated!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you do a tutorial. We all know that reading quilting mags is MUCH more important than vacuuming.

blessings!
I really don't need a lesson in procrastination (I'm really good at it) but I could use the tutorial on the book covers too.

ReplyDelete"Clean enough to be healthy, messy enough to be happy" -- that's my motto.
ReplyDeleteBoth of my magazines (like your 2) arrived on back-to-back days... a mug of hot tea and a new issue to browse (BLISS!)
Enjoy your procrastination ~ will enjoy the tutorials as you share them. I have lots of scraps ready and waiting :-)

ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect time of the year to sit around and read a magazine. I think I'll join you!

Vacuuming? What's that? But I'd love to make a journal cover. Happy Thanksgiving!
