Fall colors and another store sample

This is the view from my kitchen window. Yesterday we had rain and wind and I noticed the leaves starting to fall from this maple tree and decided it was my last chance to get a picture. The bare tree in front of it is a redbud and it lost all of its leaves over a week ago. It is down to 43 degrees this morning and windy. Here is another store sample that I have been working on. I started it during the fair when I was filling in at the store. I had it all done except the top band and the strap. Yesterday I decided I couldn't look at it unfinished any longer. It is HUGE.

I had never used these curtain grommets before. They are easy to install and I hope they hold up well to the wear and tear that a bag will get.
Here it is sitting on a chair so you can see how tall it is. The sides at the top fold in when the strap is pulled up tight so it does open up full size at the top.

I used some leftover strip piecing for the inside pockets, one on this side and 2 smaller ones on the other side.
I have a million things to do today, so I need to get focused or I'll never get anything done. I'm off to make my list......

  4. You made me curious about the curtain grommets so I googled. Instructions said to not put them in the dryer. Are they plastic? Will they melt? Why not the dryer?

  6. Did you paint the grommets you used on your bag? Or did they come in that great gold/black finish ?

Bag is great and as always your fabric choices.

Your autumn still has much color. What leaves are left on our trees are now a dusty brown.

  7. Lovely bag to behold, fabulous fabric choices ~ but too large for me (loaded it would kill my tempermental shoulders).

    Beautiful work as always, Wanda!

  10. This is really cute. I haven't seen this pattern before. I like big bags, just don't fill them any more than any other.

I am guessing that the grommets could crack or the finish might come off of them in the dryer, but that is only a guess. Some buttons have the same warning. It is an interesting use of them, though. I like that part a lot!
