One of Mary Ellen Hopkins books has this heart pattern. I think a Trudy Hughes book from the 1980's had a similar pattern. This was just a sample. This star block has always been a favorite even though it is definitely an 1980's flavor with all of the little calicoes.
I made several all red and white quilts and this is a bunch of leftovers from one of them sewn together.
This is the same block with some more pieces added but I have no desire to finish this one.
My other penstemons are in bloom. I will occasionally see a hummingbird near them.
The heat has broken and we are having a gloriously cool morning with low humidity. The heat dome they predicted hasn't reached us yet. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Heat dome? Oh, I don't like the sound of that....:(
All I know is - I turned on the a/c in my bedroom at 4am this morning cause it had gotten MORE humid during the nite. That's the first time I've had to do that.
I love those little calico stars.
Those are nice blodks. Somethings never go out of style.
I'm not particularly sentimental, but somehow I always like heart blocks. Your stars are lovely -- very traditional, very nice to look at.
Another heart block! I like it and will draft it out for another mat to add to my collection for the writers conference. Ta!
Hi Wanda,I will miss checking in with you each
and every day.Have a good week. My penstemon
is blooming too,Thank you,Thank you!! jmh
Love the bits and pieces blocks. There are so many different places where my bits and pieces are located. I am thinking I need to put them all in the same place so that I can see them, and maybe pull them out and sew something with them once in a while. You inspire me to get organized.
I love the red blocks!! The calico stars are wonderfully traditional -- but can't you just imagine them in a group of batiks or something like that? Yummy!
You have so many wonderful blocks! Have you visited Finn over at http://orphantrainsfromfinn.blogspot.com/
She and others have made some terrific quilts from leftovers.
I rather like the block you say you have no desire to finish!
Your flowers are lovely.
A heat dome?
Sounds a bit like the 'weather bomb' that New Zealand has been warned about. Only theirs was wet!
What a treat to get back on line and visit your site again. And to be greeted with HEARTS ! I just love these that you posted today as they are my favorite heart shape of all the patterns out there.
Now I too, like the piece you have no desire to finish also. It has such brilliant color and detailed design in one block.
Hi Wanda
Your blocks today are a blast from the past. I think I may still have some of those same browns and golds that you have in your star blocks!
You are inspiring me to finish some of my odds and ends!

There is something fantastic about that 1980s star block. I love it. I think it reminds me of a pillow my mom made.
The scissors are cool too.
