Some progress

I had 26 blocks done by bedtime last night from the fabrics I showed yesterday (plus a few more). They are really easy construction, and again it is the fabric that makes it interesting. I have enough strips sewn for 4 patches to make another 26 blocks. The bottom right block is the wrong color way but I didn't want to go down to take another picture. The light chains angle to the right and the dark chains angle to the left. I can see I will have to check and double check when I get to the final layout. Here is the inspiration quilt in an old magazine. They used "almost solid" type fabrics where I used a lot of prints.
I have my Blogger account set to send me an email when someone leaves me a comment. Yesterday 4 of the comments weren't sent to me. Also I have tried to leave comments on some blogs and they don't go through. I got an email from someone who tried to leave me a comment and it didn't get through. This is kind of like the letter that slides into an unknown region at the post office and the letter never gets to its destination. It is frustrating.

I usually try to respond to the commenters that don't come through as "no reply". (For my friends who read my blog and aren't bloggers, this means you who leave comments as anonymous and those who are bloggers but don't have their email address on their profile. You are "no reply" commenters. If I don't know you personally I cannot respond to your comment. ) I like to reply to thank the commenter for taking the time to say something to me or to answer a question they might have had.

I see some blogs have comment moderation set so that they can screen the comments before they show them on their post. At first I thought that was very controlling of the person and that maybe they only wanted to show the positive comments. THEN I got a couple of those comments that we want to screen out. Luckily I was notified of the receipt of them in my email box so I could go in and delete them before anyone else saw them. Isn't it a shame that our simple, uplifting, happy blogs have to be poisoned by a few inconsiderate people?

That is going to be a fabulous quilt! I love the effect!

I spent about half an hour tracking down an e-mail for a "no reply" blogger once. The person had asked a question and I didn't want to be rude and not answer. Now? Now, I'll give it a couple of minutes to try to figure out who they are.

I think your version in prints is much more interesting than the near-solid one in the book - although I do love the pattern.

Brown is generally not my color, but the prints and the richness of these are just wonderful. They work so well in this quilt!

I have found that sometimes comments on my blog sometimes get sent to my spam folder instead of to my inbox. Really annoying! Now I skim through the titles in my spam (not fun!!) before discarding everything, just in case. This morning I discovered a comment that must have been 500 words long -- all trash. But I rarely get those. Hope your blogger straightens out.

I agree I love your new favorite also, I like change and it is perfect for now until your next favorite happens.

LOVE, LOVE, love, your new project ! Those printed colorful squares are so rich. RUSTY hues are some of my favorite tones.

Hope this gets in print.

I am enjoying the look of your new project.

About comments, I am not a blogger but I have found that I can post under the name/url option which shows my commenter name but url is optional. I have tried to sign in on the google/blogger option but my husband password, etc did not work and we use the same e-mail address. I found the anonymous as too anonymous. I just not too computer savy. When needed, I just add my e-mail in my text. Some sites use a different box which asks for e-mail address (that is not posted to comment) but the rest is published. This seems to work very well.

Glorious colors - so elegant and comforting... I can smell the coffee brewing and the cookies baking.

And amen to your thoughts on inappropriate comments.

That is a lovely soft quilt.

I got one of those filthy spams on my blog yesterday, & at first, I couldnt delete it. I finally managed to completely delete it, but I was thinking of vetting comments first too. It is a shame to spoil a person's blog with that rubbish.

26 blocks in one day! WOW! Marathon sewing! I know you say they are easy blocks to make, but 26 blocks! WOW! I like the Irish Chain look, lots of movement. I like your fabric choices, too, as always.

I think most of the no reply bloggers don't know they are. When I started blogging someone emailed to let me know and helped me figure it out. I try to post about it every once and awhile to help folks become aware. Poo on spammers and negative comments. I love the fabric choices. You are a master of value!

Count me in as one who likes the prints better than solids as well! I love your "current favorite."

I screen my comments, not because I don't want negative comments or varying opinions, but because I don't want to read, and I don't want my readers to have to read, unsolicited advertisements. i completely agree that it's frustrating to try to have an informative, uplifting, inspiring space here on the web, and even it is inundated by scams and commercialism. Blech.

As to comments, I think people are the same the world over - most people are nice and a few aren't. It doesn't matter whether they are black, white, purple, Christians, Muslims, tree-worshippers, hippies, teetotalers or even quilters, the rule always applies.
the quilt is great. I'm still amazed at how the bog standard simple blocks can look so stunning when the colours and arrangements are changed.

I love the browns in this quilt. It reminds me of coffee and that is my favorite morning thing along with blogs. I am working on a quilt that is a little bit like this one right now. Well, I just compared them and really the only similarity is the diagonal squares.

Oohhhh chocolate! It reminds me of a big bar of Galaxy chocolate. Seriously though it's lovely.

I agree with Cheri - if you are using gmail, then it's possible the comments are getting stuck in the online spam folder.

I'd love to know the magazine you were using for the inspiration for this quilt. I'm trying to find the name of the original designer.
