I have this tree in my back yard that I can't identify. Its leaves are bigger that walnut tree leaves but they grow in a similar fashion with 7 or more leaves to a small branch. Can anyone help me out with its identity?
My first reaction was Pecan Tree. We had several Pecan trees where I grew up, and these sure look familiar. But the leaves appear to me just a bit too close together for Pecan. You don't think it's Walnut?
The color is just gorgeous! Could it be a Sumac?

ReplyDeleteWanda - I asked my husband (woodturner) and he suggested the following website: http://www.oplin.org/tree/
ReplyDeleteIt is a pignut hickory tree
ReplyDeleteOr a bitter nut hickory - no matter what... it is positively a hickory tree.
