Workbasket magazine

My mother used to get Workbasket magazine when I was a child. She did a lot of crafty things with yarn and raffia, etc. That is her handwriting on the cover marking some pages she wanted to go back to. This is what I chose for my project. I decided to enlarge it and embroider it for the center of a quilt.

  1. Hi Wanda~ Nostalgic memories are so sweet. LOVE the little girl with the ribbons of hearts. I collect dolls and hearts, so she really made my day. I want to see her on your quilt. I remember those instructions books also. And the love of embroidery, every young girls attempt at needle artwork.

  2. I love to see these old patterns.
Because my hands perspire so heavily in summer, I was always limited to winter months for embroidery. I suppose that is why I found the sewing machine such a wonderful friend.
I learnt on my Grandmother's old Singer Treadle, & I have it still.
