I made this piece while at QSDS in 2002. I was frustrated by the class assignments and needed a break. I had just purchased a piece of hand dyed fabric from Melody Johnson at the merchant mall and it was calling me to cut it up.
When the piece was done it had the feeling of a flag but the running of the dye looked like weeping, hence the name, Weeping Flag.
This is quite something. I see the weeping flag too. It doesn't look like you've quilted it yet? Am curious as to how you will handle that.
Thanks for your comment on my blog about binding widths. I hadn't visited yours before, but see I will have to add it to my feeds. Goodness, your work IS exuberant!

ReplyDeleteIdaho Beauty,
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I haven't quilted it yet. I will just ditch quilt it as I don't think any other style would enhance it in any way.
What a great use of that unusual fabric. It has quite an eerie effect.
