Earlier this year I decided to play with the narrowest little batik scraps, ranging anywhere from 3/4" to about 1 1/4" in width. They were again from the cutaway when clean cutting a batik for a project. I sewed together groups and played with several layouts and configurations. This is what I came up with for my final idea. Notice that the outside border is made of two different black background fabrics with a very subtle difference. A photo doesn't do just to this piece. It literally glows like jewels.
That is so awesome! It looks great in the photo - I bet it is really vibrant in "person". What size is it?
ReplyDeleteI totally love it. Nothing is more vibrant than batiks and they look great with the dark border. And it's made from scraps! It doesn't get better than that.
ReplyDeleteVicki W, the piece measures 24"x26".
ReplyDeleteJoyce, Yes nothing is better than making something from scraps. Makes me wonder why I have all of the big pieces in my collection.
This one is another stunner. It reminds me of a bamboo forest. For someone with hundreds of yards of fabric in her collection, you sure make the most of scraps!
