Unfortunately, I made all the strip sets and cut out all the triangles before trying to put it together. Lesson learned. I talked to the woman at the store who had made a sample and she said that she had to redraft it. Fortunately, I came up with a way to arrange the pieces into a completely different pattern that a really like. I'm glad you found a solution. I actually like the pinwheel layout - it avoids the matching problem and makes the whole quilt design more your own. A Very Good lesson in making a test block first, I guess? <br /><br />If someone did cut all the pieces with the pointy corner ruler, would it work to sew it so the strips line up and then trim to a square? I know it would affect block size though. I'm *think* I see how the ruler made a difference. I'll have to give both of the rulers and the trim to size method a try for it to really make sense. A very good use for some of that nasty, thin, poor-quality chain store fabric I put on the "not for use in quilts" pile!<br /><br />If this were my book, I'd be writing that change right with the pattern. A reason I prefer old fashion paper books.
