12 blocks and sewing columns....................

The last 6 blocks have been pressed and trimmed and have joined the first six on the design wall.  I have several thoughts about these blocks.  First I thought they would be nice sewn together like this as the center of a medallion quilt. But then, the  more I looked at it, I wondered how they would look with sashing between them and a wide border all around.  I removed them as stacked columns so I could use the design wall for my other project.

I went down to the basement, looked one last time at the layout of this 'other 16 patch' and moved 2 blocks.  Then I stacked, clipped, and numbered the columns and brought them up to the main floor for my evening sewing.  I have 5 of the 7 columns sewn, 4 on the wall sewn to each other and #5 sewn and laying on my sewing cabinet.  Tuesday nights there are 6 TV shows I want to watch, so I watch 3 live and the other 3 are recorded to watch tomorrow night.

This has been fun working on two projects made with Marcia Derse fabrics.

  2. You have made a lot of progress on both projects! You could go so many different ways with the crazy blocks. I guess it would just depend on how big of a quilt you wanted to make. I am loving the 16 patch quilt more and more and you get it sewn together.

  3. Your 16-patch columns look so wonderful--great arrangement, Wanda;))).
Only 30 here early this morning as I tootled off to do our weekly shopping...when I came out with my filled basket--I found my car surrounded by tree removal equipment--pretty much boxed in.
I asked one of the workmen if he could move his vehicle to let me out--and he said something I haven't heard in years "Sure, doll", he said with a smile...hahaha made my day...ah it's the little things in life, right? hugs, julierose;)))

  4. I’m with Patty, I’m like the other 16 patch more and as it’s sewn together 😀 I would be interested in seeing the crazy pieced blocks with sashing and cornerstones.

  7. I’ll bet those crazy blocks will look great with the sashing. They’d also look perfect together like that.

  8. That 16-patch is one of the veterans quilts kits that I didn't quite get to. But I have some pieces for it and will eventually get enough for the quilt.
