Sometimes you have to play with some blocks to find out what isn't working. I had company yesterday so last night I just pulled out the baggie of 44 three inch 9 patches. I placed them on my sewing table edge to edge to see if they would make a nice table runner top. What I quickly realized is that there are lots of dark colors in these blocks.
I had a stack of batik squares in the same size so I just put them on every other block that was on the table. My conclusion? Neither of them is pretty enough to sew. Back into the baggie they will go with the note telling me there are 44 of them.
Number 3 of 3 dishcloths is finished. Time to start 3 more.

I'd add something to the nine-patches -- like V blocks. I'll send you a picture....
ReplyDeleteWell now you have those blocks documented. The dishcloth is pretty! You can sure knit those fast!
ReplyDeleteMaybe "snowball" them? I hate when things don't work out--I am debating on my big star--thinking that the white is too much white!!
ReplyDelete63 here and overcast as I sip my morning coffee...
This will be a Formula One weekend starting today with their "warm-up" presentation...it's in Azerbijan (?? sp??) this weekend...

I agree with Patty the dishcloth is pretty. I can see the 9 patches looking good on point but the seems a lot of work for a table runner.
ReplyDeleteLove the greens and blues in your dishcloth!
ReplyDeleteIf you use light squares between your 9 patches, you'd have a single Irish Chain runner with that diagonal pattern from the center and corner 9 patch squares. Might be worth laying out?
Hugs!
Check your email exuberantcolor2@ to find an idea for three inch nine patches using quarter square triangles. Great idea to show what is not working. Thanks.
ReplyDeletesometimes when we pull out blocks already made we realize why we put them away in the first place lol. I have some like that set aside too waiting for me to add more colors or think about passing them on
ReplyDeleteWondering what you do with all the dishcloths you knit. Everything you do is beautiful!
