I managed to get two quilts finished in July. The one on the left was quilted by Robin Diaz so I just had to trim the quilt and add the binding on it. The top was made in May so it was a fast turnaround. It is 62.5" x 79". The fabrics are Kaffe collective with most of the large prints designed by Philip Jacobs. Most of the light fabrics are Kaffe and Brandon designs.
I quilted the flannel baby quilt on the right. The squares were sewn together last year, so on this one I added the border, did the quilting and the binding. It is 39" square.
I have several started projects, one just needing a border, one is blocks waiting for a sashing and border decision. Right now I have 15 finishes and 11 new quilt tops for the year. That is progress in the right direction for more finishes than starts. I have 2 more quilts back from Robin that I need to trim and choose binding for so I'm hoping that is 2 finishes for August.
My friend was back yesterday using my design wall and I played with some pieces on the other wall. Across the center of this layout is 3 Kaleidoscope blocks without corners (so you can see the break down of the design). I saw this layout somewhere and wanted to try it out. The triangles will be a second light fabric.
I showed this photo a couple weeks ago and it is using the same pieces as the photo above. I have taken these pieces off this design wall and will bring them up to my main floor studio to continue designing. Are you counting? That's 2 more new projects.

So you have 2 design walls? When you say "up to my main studio", is your house 2-story? Sorry so nosy! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou really are moving in the right direction for getting ahead of your WIPs. I can't say the same for 2025.
ReplyDeleteYou had a good July despite your physical issues.
ReplyDeleteGood for you with more finishes than starts--I don't think that I've ever been in that position;)))
ReplyDeleteI like the start of that Kaleidoscope block...I am going through my "started and abandoned" pieces and there are a lot of them...always some stumbling block that I couldn't figure out!! August is designated as "finish it up or donate it" month for me...
we'll see how long that will last, right?
61 lovely cool--even if rainy --degrees here. once it begins to clear I hope to walk outside for a nice change...
Hugs for a good weekend...Julierose
I like that Kaleidoscope quilt design interesting!!
ReplyDeleteYou have had a great July with finishes and starts…. “I don’t know where the time went and what I got done” but you always have a grand ‘show and tell’ for us, each month.
ReplyDeleteI love the larger colorful quilt you finished this month and the pattern the blocks create!
ReplyDeleteWell done in finishing more quilts than you started in July.
I came across a box of scrappy blue HSTs yesterday so have totally derailed myself.
Thank goodness our high today is 76*F and the low tonight is 67*F. It's still overcast from our overnight rain. The forecast is for cooler days for the weekend and through Thursday, but haven't seen what follows.
Hugs!
I am in love with both of your new projects! Congrats on your July finishes.
