Tilda Whimsy blocks

The Whimsy blocks so far; there are 5 identical of three of them and 6 of one of them.  I need to cut some new pieces of one of the shapes to have good contrast before I sew any more.  I have 21 of 36 sewn.

If you follow the directions, you would be sewing those 4 blocks into one big block (9 total).  But....you would have to alternate the pressing of the last seams to have them lock at intersections, and I don't know which block will go where until I'm doing the layout, so I wouldn't know which way to press them (and they won't stick to the design wall if the seams aren't pressed).  If I leave the 36 blocks as individuals, there are no seams to match as I web the quilt top together.  Today is supposed to be a rainy day so I'll have plenty of time to sew.

  5. I agree about waiting to press some of the seams until the layout is established. Heading off to download the pattern (no immediate plans but I can see that it would be a good one with larger pieces when that urge strikes).

  9. What charming fabrics!
I so agree about the bother and importance of pressing seam allowances in the 'right' direction.
Our forecast is for rain tomorrow morning and a high then of 68*F.

    Hugs!

  10. My eye caught the ladies first thing, I enlarged it, and was surprised to see the sleeping mice all curled up and then the squirrels as well. Ducks, birds and a black bird following the lady as she walked her dog. Quite a story in each small block . You have laced these blocks into one big fun piece. Look forward to the rest of the story. 🤗.

  12. Great colors and placement as always. I couldn't help but think..."I hope Wanda doesn't have too much trouble 'keeping her ladies straight' on this one." haha
