I want to show today that this quilt is finished, and I'm writing this at 11:30 last night.
It is 50" x 66.5" and has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it. I named it Shimmering Fish.
The block is Hunter Star, cut with my die cutter, with an alternate layout so there aren't complete stars.
The back is a batik with sailboats and palm trees which I thought was appropriate with fish on the front.

Nice finish! The backing looks nice with the front. That champagne bloom is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have never been fond of the traditional Hunter’s Star layout but I love the alternate one you’ve used. Shimmering Fish is a perfect name for it…I’m horrible at coming up with names. Beautiful!
ReplyDeletei love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely finish on Shimmering Fish, Wanda;))) And I just really love that backing fabric--so perfect!! Beautiful work and choices on this one...;)))
ReplyDelete41 this morning--temps haven't dropped as yet--but it is cloudy and I guess they will drop off a cliff overnight to Winter again!!
Hugs for a great weekend Julierose
That is the perfect name for this quilt! As always, I'm looking forward to your recap tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteStunning finish - like Cherie, I'm not a huge fan of the traditional Hunter's Star. Your version is so much more interesting. And yes, that backing is perfect for the top. (And hooray for your cactus blooms!)
ReplyDeleteApplause, applause! Shimmering Fish is beautiful and its name is perfect - as is the backing fabric and binding fabric!
ReplyDeletePretty blossoms, too.
Hugs!
The quilt is Gorgeous!! I LOVE the colors and backing!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

This one is a winner Wanda! I have this die and have not tried it yet, but this is a unique use of it!
ReplyDeleteLove how the quilt, its name and its backing are so happy together. I often notice, too, how your plant photos "jibe" with your quilt photos; art imitates life. life imitates art... exuberant colour!
ReplyDeleteYou took ‘Hunter Star’ and created ‘Shimmering Fish’ ~ it’s truly another beauty showing your never ending talent.
ReplyDeleteit does shimmer! love that backing too it looks great. I didn't realize that was the hunters star pattern until you mentioned it - I have that die but only used it once.
ReplyDeleteShimmering Fish is the perfect name. I absolutely love it!!
ReplyDeleteShimmering Fish turned out fabulous! Woohoo! Another finish!
