Sunlight in the forest progress..........
The center part of the quilt top is sewn together. I really like it just like this, no border, but what really caught my eye in the Kaffe book was the fabric he used for the first border and I already had some of it.
I don't have any more of the fabric Kaffe used for his 6" border so I was auditioning several pieces and really like this one with it.
In the book another print is inserted at the center of each of the outside borders so I tried this one.
Here is a reminder of the original quilt in Kaffe Fassett's Quilts in Sweden book. Click twice to enlarge the photo. His quilt has quite a bit of true red whereas I stayed with the orange tones.
Tomato progress: The plants haven't filled out much but there are little clumps of tomatoes on several of the plants. This one is called 4th of July so I hope that means the tomatoes will be ripe by then. I'm getting really tired of the tasteless tomatoes from the grocery store.
I got this plant after I had already filled the raised bed so I put it in a pot. It's name is Ultrasonic.
I have quite a few volunteer milkweed plants and this one is behind the hydrangea bush by my front porch.

Milkweed was a clearance plant we bought last year and they are blooming and looking so pretty in with the day lilies. This quilt has been another fun one to watch you create. I like all the orange color blending!
The quilt top is coming along nicely and is so pretty. I forgot to plant milkweed - darn. I need to work on a spot in the yard to plant some.
Keep the milkweed- it is the food for monarchs.
Quilt looks awesome, so rich I could probably wring out extra color! Like the borders.
It's beautiful Wanda, and will serve as reminder of what lies ahead, during the dark, freezing temperatures of winter. I love all those bright and cheery colors.
Those tomatoes do look like they will be ready for the fourth! I didn't plant any, but have a volunteer which is super tiny. It will be a long time before it is ready to produce any tomatoes.
What a difference that outer border makes! When I saw the inner border several days ago, I thought it just didn't fit at all. But today it looks great beside the darker print.
Well, you could have fooled me that your border is not a Kaffe. It looks great Wanda !

I am not sure about this quilt, I think I am on the fence as far as being a Kaffe fan. I do like your chosen borders, I bet it will make that quilt POP.
I too can't wait for garden tomatoes - the ones in the stores are imposters. They don't even taste like fruit!
