Stratas............

My two friends came over yesterday to sew and I got two of the five TAW stratas sewn.  I haven't pressed them yet and will probably wait until I have all 5 sewn to do that.
The colorwash is almost all filled in but I'm sure I'll change a lot of pieces at the tweaking stage.

I found a surprise bloom when I went out to check my air conditioner for any leaves or branches in the slots.  I think it is a Japanese Iris, very small and really slender leaves.  A friend gave it to me about 6 or 7 years ago and it has only bloomed once before.

One of my friends brought a strawberry rhubarb pie to bake so we had yummy dessert!

It was hot yesterday but it cooled off down to 78 degrees around 4.  After I ate supper I decided to mow the grass because it is supposed to be in the 90s the next 3 days.  While I was out there I noticed my early peonies were blooming.  I took this shot from the kitchen window after I came in.  I didn't want to change back into my gardening shoes to walk through the cut grass.  It was getting dark so the greens look a little dull.  I'll try to get a better shot today.  I have lots of buds on other plants but I think it will be a few days before any of them bloom.  Peonies are late this year like most everything else since we had such a cold spring.

I always enjoy watching you create your TAW quilts and the colours on this one are gorgeous - your colorwash is looking fab, as is the Iris; all in all a very colourful day for you. I popped out yesterday for food and found a 10 pack of Petunia's so hope to get them into the tubs tomorrow. Have a lovely weekend :)

That TAW looks great and reminds me I should consider doing one of those.... while I cast about for something to do... OH wait... I already have too much to do!!! Our weather is supposed to get humid along with some heat... and now they are sharing that the hurricane... might come our way... YUCK! Have a Great Holiday Weekend!!! Nothing special here... tho.

Seeing the strata just confirms my earlier thought that this TATW quilt will be stunning.

I am enjoying watching the color wash come along. I am trying to "guess" the spots that you will change when it is tweaked. When I start hitting about 75% then I will feel like I can try one on my own.

I love those fabrics laid out for the TATW. And the Color wash is so different from the batik. Our weekend here is supposed to be wet. Hot but rainy. The garden will love it.

Those stratas are luscious! Love the iris. I have some, but they have not bloomed.

What fun colorful post today Wanda, loved every photo. Peonies, pie (*._.*), Iris , colorwash, TAW stratus. Not to mention your friends that you shared your day with. Just couldn' ask for a better day than that.

A beautiful iris, I had one a long time ago, and when fully open, it was huge. Lovely garden flowers, down here I struggled to find something to go into a bunch for a friend on her birthday. In the end I cut the last 3 Brunsvigia Josephina blooms. The bulbs might actually do better without the flowers. The TAW fabrics look great, this will be another stunner.

Iris and Peonies - and strawberry rhubarb pie. Oh these bring back memories of growing up in Michigan.

Your Color Wash is stunning! Love seeing that Iris make an appearance, too.

I can't wait to see the top you'rr making with those strata. And I love the watercolour - the pale prints in the middle are so beautiful.

Seeing pictures of your garden is such a treat. It will be at least two more weeks before peonies show up at florists here.

A very colorful post. Wish I had a design wall to lay out colorwash pieces.
I think your iris is a Siberian iris. Japanese iris flowers are flatter. My Siberian iris are just starting to open up and the few peonies I still have are only budded, not blooming. I love this time of year in the garden. Something different every week. And a neighbor gave me some rhubarb yesterday, so a pie is definitely on my schedule, despite the expected heat and humidity.
