Choosing fabrics......

I didn't do any sewing yesterday but I did play with fabric.  I have been cutting quilt kits for a friend this summer and this is the next one.  Luckily all of these squares and strips were cut a long time ago and just needed to be co-ordinated to work together.  Now I need to cut the strips to the right lengths.  I cut this same kit for her last year and she enjoyed making it so much she wanted to do another.  Here is the block instructions.
I got a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday, a fabric postcard made of hand dyed fabrics from my friend Vicki W.

It was nestled between bills.  I wonder if my mailman read it.  I'm sure it is a novelty at my small town post office.

A postcard from Vicki is always special. My Christmas card is still on display from last year. Ha ha. I just didn't want to put it away.

I won a silk scarf she'd dyed and I treasure it.
Glad to see you are playing with fabric again and doing some sewing.

Good morning Wanda....I'm so glad you highlighted the Bento Box pattern today, since it reminded me that it was a project I'd like to tackle after the holidays. I will check to see if I have enough lights and darks in my Batik fabrics to do so. I'm praying we get the rain that we so desperately need, that they have forecasted.

Loving the Bento Box revival — I recall seeing that quilt grow, thinking "that's something I want to do someday". Thanks for the timely reminder; now I'll start pulling fabrics for what will be an ongoing project.

Playing with fabric is the most fun part of designing. Your creativity never stops even with your rehab you are going through. You are still the energizing bunny.

I had to see why everyone was excited to have a Vicki W. piece. You have mentioned Vicki Welsh many times throughout the years. I now know about Vicki... I checked out her blog and WOW what a talent. I enjoyed her blog so much. Thanks for the link.

I'm glad you liked the card. That one was my favorite from the bunch that I made with the rainbow scraps. Glad it brightened up the bills!
