tote bags finished.......

I finished sewing 10 tote bags for our church project.  They were requested by a preschool for children of migrant workers in our area.  Big storms are supposed to roll through so I hope I can get to our sewing session this afternoon.
The Swamp Milkweed is blooming now.  I always forget what it is when it first comes up.  I need to transplant it to a new location because it is right by the sidewalk.

I planted zinnias again and the bed is pretty pathetic.  Almost a third of it is bare.  I have some seeds I saved from last year's blooms so maybe I'll stick some in there and see if they grow.  The tallest ones are almost ready to bloom.

Tote bags are kind of time consuming to sew but are so much better than those grocery sack non wovens. I did an outdoor art show with my watercolors yesterday on a beautiful day but exhausting, so now I can get back to sewing on Thursday as we are going to take a break by Lake Erie for a couple of days.

I love zinnias. Maybe your saved seeds will produce for you.

I've never seen a swamp milkweed bloom before, lovely colors. Sure wish we could get rain, its way too hot and dry here. Nice totes for the kids, I'm sure they will love them. BTW, I was on Pinterest yesterday looking for different quilt ideas for my Kaffe Fasset fabrics and there you were, several times in fact. I pinned you, of course.

Great totes! Super idea for the little ones--something like their needing them would never have crossed my mind. Glad to see the milkweed there, as we so desperately need them for the Monarchs.

Cute tote bags. The kids will love them. I don't have any zinnias this year. My poor Shasta daises are already starting to fade. They looked so pretty. Anyone driving up the cul-de-sac got a show of all those white flowers. I will have to take a picture before they are gone.

My zinnia patch is looking pretty puny also. One year it's great, the next year it's looks horrible.

Those little tote bags are fabulous! The flower of that Swamp Milkweed is so pretty! Does it have a scent?
