Purple layout.........

I put 70 blocks up on the design wall yesterday and took this photo.  I did get the top sewn together last night but haven't pressed it yet.  It will look a lot better when sewn.

I think this is the earliest my peonies have ever bloomed.  This bush is always the first to bloom.

We had storms roll through last night with gusty winds so I don't know as I'm writing this whether the blooms are still standing up.

The other Jack-in-the-Pulpit is blooming now.  The plant is not as tall this year as it usually is.

The pale pink Weigela was chopped back severely 2 years ago in the fall and it has the most blooms it has ever had this year.  The petals were starting to drop yesterday.

My youngest grandchild turns 21 today, the one who made the Packers quilt last month.

I love the depth that the piecing gives the purple quilt.

The purple quilt has a great deal of motion. Can't wait to see it sewn.

love the purple - glad the storms weren't too bad, my daughter had them come through last night too

That purple quilt is so fun! So much movement! The flowers are beautiful!

21? How did that happen? Happy birthday.

I love the purples. The irregular squares really make it come alive.

The peony is so pretty. It's always hard to trim a plant back hard, but they reward you later.

Peonies AND lilacs -- must be the upper Midwest (smile). Your purple quilt will be a stunner.

That's a really neat pattern! Did you share the name of the block/pattern with us? I love the secondary shapes in this one.

Purple glory inside, and nature's colours out, a beautiful peony.

I always liked the shape and colour of your purple quilt - I'll get around to making a block one day. My peonies are also in flower; yesterdays rain didn't knock the petals off, maybe because they are still so fresh. Mine don't have that yellow in the middle and I think the leaves are wider - I'll check them out tomorrow. Happy Birthday to your grandchild - as we (used to) say in the UK when you reach that age, 'key of the door, 21' :)

your purple blocks are full of movement lovely. I have a peonie that has never had a flower in 10 years thinking if nothing happens this year it can come out. Not heard of Jack-in-the-Pulpit before looks interesting

I admit at first I didn't care for the purple block but now that I see the layout I love it. As Mary said...how do you make it.

Lovely to see your paeonies blooming again, you have a good show of flowers there and such a beautiful rich colour.
