Purple 16 patch........ #5 finish for January.........

Finish #5 for January.  The camera is playing tricks again and not letting you see the red-purples as they look in real life.  It is 54" x 71".

The backing was another of those great sale bargains that I purchased several years ago, knowing that I would someday make the quilt to go with it.

Three ladies are coming over to sew today and tomorrow I have the art quilters group here.  I might get a quilt top finished but I will probably have to settle for 5 finishes in January.  Maybe that will make me push for 5 finishes in February.  I really want to see my unfinished top number down around 20.  It is above 40 right now.

Love the purple. Going into the "Temple of Fire" today to board up some windows and start pulling out my quilting stuff to access my status. Actually, I can't wait.

This is a beautiful quilt! It shows how important colour value and contrast are. The block is simple but the effect is stunning.

This is such a pretty purple quilt! Reminds me of sprig crocuses (cro-ki?) and irises.
Have fun sewing with your friends.

I love the overall shape of it in relation to the multitude of squares. Congratulations on another finish.

Yours is one of my favourite quoting blogs. I admire your productivity and love your creative use of colour to enliven simple patterns and create beautiful work. Inspired by this quilt and my overflowing basket of blues, I've just made a start on one in blues. So far I have 15 blocks and no repeated fabrics. I don't have a finished size in mind yet...just playing really. But I'm wondering if you have any 'rules' about how often you can repeat fabrics without limiting the final result.

Very nice! It's a great quilt. For some reason, every time I see this quilt, though, I think that if I were making it, I would have had less contrast, I would've made it less obviously checkered light and dark, and more uniformly purple.

purple can be so overwhelming, but this isn't. it's soothing and rhythmic. I love this quilt.

I would be over the moon if I had five finishes in one month! I just now finished my first large quilt ever!!!!!! Before now, all I had done are baby quilts so I'm pretty excited. And your use of Kaffe Fasset fabrics was part of the inspiration in my finish! I love them!

I have to say purple is not a favorite color of mine but this quilt absolutely sings to me! Well done and great job (again)! Love it
