Quilting and decorating........

I didn't accomplish much yesterday.  I did quilt another batch of mug rugs.  I'm using 12 wt. thread, a size 80 topstitching needle, and a 4.0 length stitch.  The piece of fabric at the right is the backing on 4 of these.  I have several batiks that never seem to work into a project so they become backings.
I don't do much decorating for Christmas because no one comes to my house to see it.  I did get the box down with the Christmas dish towels and fingertip towels and table runners.  This ornament never got put away from last year.  My daughter gave it to me about 35 years ago.  It is made of very thin painted metal and is one of my favorites.
This little handmade Santa sits on top of a Z for zebra block that a friend gave to me many years ago.  The Laurel Burch lion stands behind it.  I will put out a few more things tomorrow.

We got a little snow yesterday afternoon and more is expected today, maybe around 8".  It is going to be warmer today, right at freezing after 20s for a couple days.  I filled the bird feeders and put out more suet for the woodpeckers yesterday afternoon so I won't have to put on tall boots yet.

I just went to the window to see how much snow WE got last night...a few inches with the total from this fall forecast to be 6 to 10 inches. I suspect I'll have to fill feeders tomorrow. I don't decorate much anymore either but I do love the lights and continue to use them. I love how cozy they make the house feel.

we do not entertain so very few see our decorations either, I mainly do it for me I guess as I like to see them! We do have one daughter in and out of the house though and she sometimes brings her great niece along who I babysat the other day - she went home telling her mother that they all needed to move into Aunt Karen's house because it was so pretty -

We will put up the tree bec daughter and family will spend Christmas here. One grandson carried the tree in from the shed yesterday and another grandson will help put it together today. Otherwise I don't think we would bother too much. Expecting 5 inches overnight. This is the last day of a quilter's weekend. I'm getting so much done! Have a nice day.

What great ornaments--love them! Hope you're getting out a lot to see at least your relatives' decorations :) I always love the lights. We got an inch of snow 2 days ago--everyone stayed home (Seattle area). Always makes me laugh, since I grew up on the East Coast where 2 feet of snow was common.

Such pretty deco from your daughter - I'd keep it out all year too.

I love the ornament, it really says "Christmas!" If I had your lovely mug rugs I'd use them as wall art!

How big are your mug rugs?

Beautiful mug rugs. I love being decorated, but I hate putting away. so I don't put much up.

I decorate less than we used to but with more meaning (like your beautiful metal ornament). I also love the lights (white) with the early darkness, drab brown falling leaves, and heavier gray skies. Fun lion!!

Thanks for the information on thread, needle and stitch length. I like the effect of the heavier weight thread and will definitely give it a try. I do envy you the snow at Christmas time but when it all turns into slush and then freezes my delight quickly disappears! Lovely ornaments, we won't be going to town with decorations this year, all family meals are at two of the kids homes.

Beautiful ornaments. I love the zebra behind the z block.

I have a feeling your friends, like mine, might think of you every time they see something "zebra?" And that Laurel Butch "lion" kind of looks like a zebra to me, also. He has white and black stripes, doesn't he?
I have a couple of zebra Christmas decorations, and I always have a zebra on my little tree.
