Purple 16 patch sewn........

Yesterday's photo was just blocks on the design wall.  Today is the quilt top sewn together.  It ended up 53" x 72".  I have enough of two different backing fabrics that I could add a border if I want it larger.

Here is the first fabric.  It is purple and green.

This is the second choice for backing.  It is also in two blocks in the quilt top.  I still have Christmas sewing to finish so I won't make any more decisions for a few days.

I have a very queasy stomach this morning, so I like the second choice for the border.

I like the first one. Pretty!

The 2nd fabric would be a beautiful border, if you choose to add one to the quilt. The 1st fabric would be great for the back. Good luck with your decision (AND with your Christmas sewing!!)

I agree with joyful quilter: first fabric is too "different" to blend into top, but would make nice contrast for back.

I like the second one for borders; the addition of green in the first print doesn't seem to go as well with the monochromatic purple blocks. Both would be great for backing.

I'm going for the first one :)

For a border, I prefer the second fabric. For a back, either one is okay.

I vote for the second one, although, both are very pretty.

Whatever choice you make will be the right one! Merry Christmas Wanda!

Wow, that came together quickly! I'm partial to the second border only because it has more value variation.

I don't like the first fabric as a border at all but a backing is ok. The second choice I like. But I do like the quilt top by itself too.

Hard choice! However whatever you choose, it will be beautiful! I love greens, so I would choose 1 over 2.
Can't wait to see it finished!

I love the first fabric for the back; the green really adds something! If you want a border, I agree that the second (all purple) fabric would look nice there.

I don't think I could get those blocks all sewn in one day. I pin all my seams fanatically (1 - 3 pins each seam); my result is always good but it takes me a while!

So far there seems to be a consensus! And I agree, but it would be nice to actually audition the fabrics. And I'd need more distance than I could get in the tiny photo I had.
But, I know whatever you do will work beautifully. I love the purple quilt!
