County Fair photos......

My friend Sarah (one of the 2 friends who come over to sew at my house) won one of the coveted purple ribbons for this quilt.

The Sandwich Fair is really the DeKalb County fair but the fairgrounds are in Sandwich so that name stuck.  This is the 129th year.

Another friend won one of those ribbons too.

This one is by a friend who was in a quilting guild with me for many years.  I have a lot of talented friends.

More purple ribbon winners, the "best of" in many different categories.

Here are more quilts.  I realize I didn't take photos of 2 of the sections.

I admire all of the work that goes into a yo-yo quilt.

Rain was supposed to be done by 9 a.m. but it started up again before 11 a.m. so we got wet.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I wish they could show the whole quilt and not just a teaser! Our guild show is Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st. We only have it every three years, as our guild is not large (40) and it is a lot of work.

Oh my.....such lovely quilts. Thanks for sharing the photos! Love the name "Sandwich Fair"......they could sell "sandwiches" instead of elephant ears!

Beautiful quilts Wanda, but the purple and green one really caught my eye. Bet you had fun, even though you had to dodge some rain drops.

All very impressive: why did you not enter one or ten or twenty of your outstanding quilts????? I'm guessing there would have been more than purple ribbon if you had!!!

Beautiful quilts. Thank you for sharing. I miss getting to the fairs and I used to enter sewing, crocheting, weaving, and baked goods. I'm having fun with my quilting for others. I learned at a camp, that is is a mark of leadership to adjust, and I've been through many.

Could you please tell me what the quilt block is called in the 2nd to the last photo on the left quilt? It looks somewhat like a Maltese cross. Thank you.

The quilt exhibit at the Lake County Fair is nearly non-existent now. (Cook County hasn't had a fair for years: https://www.wbez.org/shows/curious-city/what-killed-the-cook-county-fair/d2d0f22e-43d4-4fe0-9e0f-4635cd5502cd)
