It was a hot one.......

This is what I had in mind for the interrupter strips in this Marcia Derse fabric quilt.

I wanted some interest close up when it is being used as a couch quilt.

A photo of the whole quilt just doesn't do justice.  It is so much more vibrant in person.  My camera wants to emphasize the turquoise and dull the rest of the fabrics.  I have cut the strips but this heat has sapped my energy so nothing is sewn.

Most of my coneflowers look like this.

One however decided to bloom.  I took the photo above in the early evening Sunday and I took this one yesterday morning.  There is such a difference in the greens in different times of the day.

I planted most of my cannas in the ground but I have 2 pots of them too.  I noticed the Japanese beetles are eating the leaves on one of the plants in the ground.

I really like the b&w strips. You are so clever to break up that mass of color with those! I will post today about the progress overnight in my garden. My coneflowers are way behind yours!

love the "interrupter" strips. It is too hot here too and I am hardly on the porch lately. I try to get whatever outside work needs doing early and sometimes it is too hot by then to enjoy the outside.

The heat is really an energy sapper for sure. I managed a little sewing last night, but not a lot. I really like the fabrics you chose for the strips. It adds a delightful touch.

Guess I am the minority. I think the strips detract from an otherwise lovely quilt.

The charcoal did just as I suspected it would - like the way it interrupts but doesn't shout. I'm still not 100% convinced on the black and whites though.

I had Japanese beetles eat most of my garden last year. They are horrible. I went to this site and followed their instructions. http://www.gardeners.com/how-to/control-japanese-beetles/5163.html.

Your quilt is very pretty. I like the strip with the most white in it.

The black and white looks great between the rows. Heat can really zap all energy.

Am I correct that you actually have two fabrics in each stripe? A white with black dots in a very narrow strips and then a wider white with a pattern of larger black "wheels"?

These sections are so beautiful. I like the white/ black and gray/black strips you have inserted between the pieced sections. They are perfect. I thought I would like the two fabrics you have paired at the very top better, but I don't. I like the white/black and gray/black strips together the best.
