Rainy day...........

Yesterday was a rainy day with intervals of sunshine.  It was a good day to stay inside and sew.  I got this top sewn together and now have to decide if I'm adding a border.  It is 39.5" x 56.5".  I can just finish it as a small lap or couch quilt and move on.

When the art quilters were here we talked about doing another Strips 'n Curves template quilt.  This is one of the other templates, not the set we have used before.

In the drawer with the templates I had this block already sewn and parts for 4 more.  This is really square, the photo is at an angle.

Last night I cut more sections from one fabric (not strip pieced) and sewed the blocks and then sewed all four together.  I know already that I don't want to work with this shape on a larger project.

I imagine all those seams on a curve were tricky. It does look neat with what you have done. Chris

I like that bottom photo but can totally understand not wanting to do one larger! I have several quilt tops put aside that I do not think will grow although I had intended them to - have lost interest in them and time to move on to other things.

Love the quilt with one row of diamonds and the rest zig zag. I love the asymmetry.
I do love to piece curves, but I am not sure how I would like compound curves like that. Almost too much curve change with straight strips going on. Love the batik colors.

It's a gorgeous prototype. I have always admired Louisa Smith's work, but I imagine her stuff is a bear to execute well. I'm sad you don't want to work with that shape on a larger project, because I would love to SEE that shape in a larger project. But I don't blame you a bit! We do this for fun, after all.

It's always good to do a small sample! I rarely do that and that's how I end up with UFOs.

The four blocks together look good, but I think I would feel as you do, a larger one would not be my choice.

What a great project for a rainy day! It certainly must've brightened your outlook!

How big are those curved squares? It doesn't look like too bad of a curve, but I'm still kind of afraid of trying curves. And why wouldn't you want to do more? You can just post your answer on your next post, if you would please. Thank you.
